Years ago I was shopping at EBgames and I overheard a father trying to buy a Gamecube for his son because he desperately wanted to play Zelda and Mario; the store clerk advised him to buy a PS2 because Zelda and Mario were becomming PS2 exclusive titles in their next iterations.
The general problem with people in retail (in particular locally, where we have a really strong job market) is stores generally only have people apply to them who can't get jobs elsewhere which generally results in people who are not very knowlegeable and/or people who give very poor customer service.
