I thought GTA was the fastest selling video game in history... at any rate, I think that Nintendow ill outsell everything not called Nintendo DS for the rest o this generation.

Oh your right. Due to the fact that he did not mention the DS as not counting, that means that I win. Becuase I am 100% positive the DS will outsell the Wii in July as well. So that means I win. :D

On a worldwide basis the Wii outsells the XBox 360 and PS3 combined by a margin of 2 to 1 ...

Big game releases and price reductions may make the XBox 360 or PS3 pass the Wii in certain regions for a month but there is no way that they will ever pass the Wii in worldwide sales. Most of the claims which state otherwise forget that the Wii has an amazing advantage of (roughly) 200,000 units every month based on Japaneese sales alone; to put that into perspective that is 1/2 to 2/3 the total sales of the PS3 and XBox 360 outside of Japan on most months.

Ummm...the day the evil Tomato king from Mars will come to liberate ketchup on earth :).

I predict Xmas 2007.

I would agree with RolStoppable's original post in that it simple won't lose that position.

But, if a specific month has to be guessed, I'll go with Nov 2012, six years after the release of the Wii and PS3, seven after the Xbox 360. It may be sooner than that, as Microsoft will likely put something out in 2011.

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...
01/08: (008w) +875.8%, 04/08: (021w) +344.4%, 07/08: (034w) +219.3%, 10/08: (047w) +163.5%
01/09: (060w) +131.8%, 04/09: (073w) +111.4%, 07/09: (085w) +098.1%, 10/09: (099w) +086.7%
If Wii sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass Wii by...
01/08: (008w) +1072.%, 04/08: (021w) +498.4%, 07/08: (034w) +363.4%, 10/08: (047w) +303.1%
01/09: (060w) +269.0%, 04/09: (073w) +246.9%, 07/09: (085w) +232.6%, 10/09: (099w) +220.3%
If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%
2012: (217w) +0064.9%, 2013: (269w) +0033.1%, 2014: (321w) +0011.5%, 2015: (376w) -0004.8%
At +0% it will pass it in 358w, the week ending September 19th, 2014, at an age of 409w (7y44w).
Current age of PS2: 7y37w.

Last update: Week ending November 3, 2007

Nintendo production, or something, is at least limiting sales to 800,000/month. There are over 1million PS3's sitting on shelves in NA. Sony expects to sell them all with the promotions they have going right now. If they sell the 1million they are aiming for in NA, and then they sell 100,000 in europe, and 100,000 in japan. That leaves the PS3 selling 1.2 million this july. Unless the nintendo pulls 400,000 extra Wii consoles out of a magical Wii spawning warehouse, They cant keep up. And Halo3, will definatly push the 360 up to 1-2 million for the month. Once agian, the Wii will still be limited to .8million. Then come the holiday season, the Wii is likely still to be 'chocked' at the .8 million area, and becuase of that, once agian, easy for the PS3/360 to outsell it, not becuase of more demand, but becuase of avalibality.

Do you really think that the PS3's sales are going to increase over 1,000% for a month after a 17% price reduction?

Seriously, the PS3 will probably sell 75,000 to 100,000 in its first week after the price reduction ... followed by 50,000 to 75,000 the second week and then return to (approximately) 25,000 units on the third week ...

The PS3 will never (EVER!!!) sell 1,000,000 units in a month in North America

Isn't the production of the Wii over a million a month right now?
