Forums - Nintendo - My 2 cents on why isn't Nintendo releasing / announcing many games ...

@ DTG
You shouldn't be proud of that.

@ Rol
You have some of those awesome games in your games collection, so you should know better :)

@ Soriku
I'm not stating such a thing. I simply tried to explain why releasing games often is a bad business model for Nintendo in the long run.

What are those many awesome 3rd party games you speak of?

@DTG: Because we all know that all people have as much time for videogames as you have. My Wii has exceeded 2.500 hours of total playtime, but I am aware that not everyone has as much time for games as I have.

So then nerds like us don't deserve new games? Nintendo should supply all walks of gamers with new software not just the casuals. I still remember the NOA who condecendingly said during some press conference that only "nerds and otaku" care about the storage solution. The fact that he hasn't been fired for such a grossly inappropriate and offensive comment shows you where Nintendo's loyalties lie.

I just bought Wario Land last week, Disaster comes in three weeks, Trauma Center 2 two weeks after that (published by Nintendo in Europe). I can't say that I'll be short of games, considering that there are also some DS games and 3rd party software as well for the rest of this year.

Laurent Fischer's comment about the Wii storage seems to be appropiate, don't you think? You just said that we are nerds and it's us who download dozens of games and run out of space rather quickly.

@FaithRaven: I wouldn't call these 3rd party games I own awesome, except for Okami. At least some of them are good though.

emphasis is on the manner in which he made that statement; rather condecendingly and disrespectfully directed toward the otaku/nerd market.

Nerds like you deserve someone to slap you and teach you that no matter how great gaming can be, there way too many things in this world that deserves your attention. No one was there to slap me when I was in need of a slap so it took me 3 years to realize this alone.

Laurent Fischer comment was stupid indeed, but thats because he shouldn't say such things even if it's the pure truth. You should apreciate his honesty thou.

That depends on your personal ideals. I think gaming is a very important aspect of life, that serves intellectually, emotionally, artistically as well as pure entertainment. Many people read books tens of hours a weeks yet no one calls them out as nerds or otaku's at least definitely not in a negative sense.

I agree with DTG.

I've heard playing MGS4 is just like reading War & Peace.

What I was trying to say is:

gaming as main hobby = great

gaming as main activity = sad unless you are a pro gamer who earns shitloads of money from competitions.

Ofc they are nerds, don't you agree ? :D
