I think that's the plan, but they'll still get outsold by the 360 by a good 2 milion units though

If you own a PS3, why would YOU need a price cut?

That's my point exactly.  Even if sales continue at this relatively sluggish rate, we are guaranteed a PS4.  They will eventually start making money.  But if they drop the price in an effort to get sales and "beat" the XBox360, and they end up losing a ton of money, we WON'T be guaranteed a PS4.

I own a ps3 but I would like a price cut for the other gamers. I will buy a second one when the slim version is released and use one for gaming and one for movies ;)

this temporary sales boost for 360 is only temporary as this weeks sales data shows, in na and jap. others sales for 360 should be down also.

you have to remeber ps3 did over 50k more units weekly many times than 360, so its not doom and gloom, its just xbox fanboys have begun to fart about because thier console has sold a little more in last few weeks

The GC made money still. I think what he is saying is that if they lower it to much they will lose to much money and they might get out of video games...

PS3 hasn't even been out 2 years, there is plenty of time to lower the price - They need to stop losing money and the software + blu-ray should be able to carry it for the next year.

I think the question is if PS3 passes the 360 in all regions in weekly sales (which it was doing for a while) again in spite of the price cut (which people here seem to forget JUST HAPPENED), what else can MS do to raise interest? A $100 360?

the PS3 is the luxury console. Of course it costs more.

I don't see why people complain so much. in order to enjoy a HD console you need an HD Tv... that's going to run you $1,000 anyhow. So what's another $100 on top of 1,300 for a HD Gaming experience??

NOTHING.

I have no idea why anyone would want a Xbox360 or a PS3 without an HD TV.

I guess people who are doing this are just stupid.
