Forums - Sales - The 360 price cuts could potentialy help the PS3 and here's why....

You are just distorting facts.

People who wants to buy a PS3 or an Xbox360 will buy it, no matter the price.

Microsoft reduced the price to attract the Wii user base but they are underestimating it. People doesn't buy a Wii because of the price, they buy it because of what is offering. Neither the Xbox360 nor the PS3 does that to that expanded audience. .

lol. Maybe you don't know the general consumer well. Lower price = more likely a buy. If that wasn't the case then we'd see sales lower with price cuts, not higher, no?

Yeah, that's why the N64 and Gamecube annihilated their competition.

. The PS1/PS2 had a more vast library and popularity which is why they won...same with the Wii.

Lol wtf?

Dude dont even talk about the wii's library, look at my sig.

I agree with Leo-J. The multiplats that Ps360 share through the end of this year are stronger than the Wii's entire library. Wii sells becuase it target s a new market, and is someting new. Nintendo is making some games to hold onto its old market, but thats not the primary focus unfortunatly. LBP is by far better than anything Wii has coming out this fall.

No, price will determine what I will buy due to substitution. There are some DS games I want, but I only have a 7/10 wanted level. On PS3, there are several games I really want, and I would like a blu ray player, and I never had a PS2 so I could play that as well. However, I can't play PS2 games on PS3s now becuase BC got taken out, and if I buy a 360 for 1/2 the price, I will have enough games to play that I won't need a PS3. (which is why I bought a 360). Price is a big factor, and there are many others as well.

I agree with the OP. Most people in Europe thinks PS3 is much more powerful than 360.

360 will soon be seen as a dead console due to the cheap price. Just like what happened with Gamecube.

I cant argue with perception just not sure why when you look at games that have come out for both systems they look about the same so not sure what the PS3 gets the moew powerful tag.

Comparing the 360 to the gamecube is just wrong the gamecube HAD 0 thrid party support the 360 has arguably the best

People don't look at the games. It's just an "established fact" in Europe that PS3 is much more powerful. This is what the masses thinks.

Sure 360 has better support that GC did, but I think the only place in Europe where X3DO has sold better is in UK actually.

People just don't want a 360 here.

Launch-Current comparison:

Xbox: 5.131 million units sold

X360: 5.875 million units sold

PS2: 7.5 million units sold

PS3: 6.2 million units sold

Wii: 10.5 million units sold

People "may not want a X360 here", but they really don't really want a Playstation 3 either. They all want a Wii far more. Also, a 1 million unit lead over the X360, I don't think that would establish "much more powerful" unless your meaning in some other way. The Wii pretty much destroyed the notion that the Playstation brand was some sort of god-send when it came to brand recognition. It's done worse than the PS2 has by a decent margin.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Tut tut Mr stickabll ,We all know that Europeans are expressing far more demand for the PS3 than they are the 360 , this is evident in A. Microsofts Aggresive Price cutting ,B . the bigger effect PS3 price cuts have on sales in comparison to the 360 , C . the fact that the 360 has been outsold in europe by a much more expensive PS3 for most of this year. To say that europeans don't want the PS3 because it's getting outsold by the Wii would be like saying americans don't want the Sony walkman because it gets outsold by the Ipod.

The PS3 sold faster in europe since launch than the 360 with a high price point , smaller games libary , inferior online service etc. Comparing the PS3 against the PS2 is unfair but you'll do it anyway because it favours your opinion . Every new generation is not exactly a new race but it's definetley not a continuation of the previous generation.

Just my 2 cents but... there's still a very strong opinion of "buy cheap buy twice" in the UK, if you take into concideration this, people could be seeing the PS3 as less than the cost of two 360s if one was to break (assuming they'd go for the Premium console).

Also, the average consumer may not even be aware that there's a 3 year warranty on the 360 when it comes to the RROD? People here always just assume they get their standard 1 year warranty with their product, even though EU regulations say all complex electronic devices must have a 2 year warranty with the manufacturer (don't expect your local Comet to tell you this though).

I still don't get how the 360 is considered HD when it has no HD playback (blue ray) features what so ever, we can say it's the best DVD based console on the market but not HD, or am i missing something?

So i guess the price cut failed?

Uh, joke post? Do you need someone to explain to you that the 360 plays games in high definition?
