Forums - Sales - The 360 price cuts could potentialy help the PS3 and here's why....

@Dolla , I never said the 360 price cut was a bad thing , infact it was the only move MS could make the keep the XBOX 360 relevant in Europe and Japan so that it's not only in the price ranges of the Wii , PS3 but the PSP , PS2, Wii and PS3.

lol. Maybe you don't know the general consumer well. Lower price = more likely a buy. If that wasn't the case then we'd see sales lower with price cuts, not higher, no?

Yeah, that's why the N64 and Gamecube annihilated their competition.

. The PS1/PS2 had a more vast library and popularity which is why they won...same with the Wii.

Lol wtf?

Dude dont even talk about the wii's library, look at my sig.

@ Soriku but I was responding to your point , maybe I misunderstood what you was saying , please explain further.

@Million

You basically said lower price = lower value. I countered that by saying the general consumer doesn't think that way, and if lower price = lower value then I asked why do sales rise with price cuts rather than decline. You can see the 360 ate some of the PS3's sales with the recent price cuts. That proves you're whole statement is wrong. You then went on to say something about company profitability, which isn't what your thread is asking about.

Well I didn't really say that actualy , I basicly said the change in price in combination with it's current price will reduce it's perceived value, a lower price = lower value argument wouldn't work with the existance of the Wii.

Keep in mind the 360 is in the price ranges of the PS2,PSP and Nintendo DS , if that doesn't scream to you lower perceived value then I can't debate with you

Sales spikes ocur with price cuts , and may not cause long term sales rises.... previous XBOX 360 price cuts have caused temporary spikes followed by slightly improved or similar performance sales before the price cut however  this price cut is bringing the 360 reall low so that could change. A PS3 price cut would have a much bigger impact on marketshare than the XBOX 360 did because the PS3 has more perceived value for money globaly and especialy in europe , perceived value doesn't = sales however as i have explained in other threads.

Most games are multiplat so might as well get a 360. That & they have more exclusives.

 Xbox 360 (93 Exclusive titles) / PLAYSTATION 3 (113 Exclusive Titles)

Not by much, but PS3 does have a total of more exclusives. just wanted to clear that up, but i'd say and continue to say so, just become a PS360 owner in 08 while you can that way you guys can stop your crying and whining and have the best of both worlds.

My opinion, (PS3 Bundle with LBP or R2 or something along those lines, for those of you looking to buy a PS3) and/or (Buy the Xbox 360 Arcade Model its a steal at 200 bux since the hard-drive is 100% upgradeable and with 3 year warranty at its default its a solid deal)

Well theres my atempt at peace that will be blown un to the wind oh well...

As for the Sales matter, i've got a simple answer to it "Only time will tell" although i hate that answer very very much, its the truth. *Runs out of the embers*

Let's look at a similar case: Cereal. We all know that cereal comes in two choices boxed brand name, and the bagged cereal that poor people buy.

They both have pretty much identical ingredients and similar taste, but what differentiates them? Price. The bagged cereal is half the price of boxed cereal. So why do people shy away from the cheap one? Perceived value

I've been saying this foreverrrrrrrr

Same with PS3 and 360, PS3 is Fruit Loops and 360 is Frosted Krusty-O's

Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made

Cereal!!! LOL!!! that made me smile, it does make sense though to some extent anyway. *Runs out of the embers with a bowl of fruitloops and wants sum krusty-O's to :D)

You know that consumers don't think in price but in the ratio of value/price. That's why the more expansive Wii is outselling the 360 even if its cheaper. The value of the Wii is seen by many to be superior to that of the 360.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

seriously. i believe, ps3 should have price like 799 usd,

Well then Sony should just jack up their prices and they would clearly have the best console on the market.

It just doesn't work that way.
