Any ideas when we will see a slim model of the current generation consoles? I assume they will weigh half the amount of the original launch consoles. I have no ideas when they will arrive on the market. Any ideas on when they will appear?

360 next year, PS3 late next year/early 2010 and Wii, well is there a need for a slim model?
I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.
Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.
lol how much slimmer do you want the Wii to be? As for PS3 I hope soon as I will not buy one until then

This.
There wont be a slim wii. The only thing that might come close is a wii2 with wii1 internals.
Is slim that big of a deal? If I recall correctly, a majority of consoles never got slimmer... No Nintendo console has ever got slimmer, no Xbox console, No Atari/SEGA, the only one I can think of is the PS2. (Did the PS1?)
I can't see why Sony/MS/Nintendo would even care about a slim model line...not until the generation is nearly over with atleast...
The Wii won't get any slimmer.
I doubt the 360 will change in size either.
The PS3 will get a Slim once it starts making more profit. I'll just throw a mid-2010 out there.

No, it isn't really a big deal. I think it comes down more to price and reliability.
Edited to add links.

DS lite, Gameboy pocket, Gameboy advanced SP :P But yes, no Ninty home console
Anyway, I think there will be slim models this time round - MS and Sony are trying to crack the Japan market, slim will help for that
