Payton did have a fair amount of influence over MGS4, particularly the revamping of the combat system.

he had zero to do with anything but what he is credited for.

And actors appear in movies and TV shows and don't get put into the credits all the time, therefore, it must have just been my imagination.

Heck, Ron Howard must therefore not be the narrator on arrested development as he is not credited at the credits, I must be hearing things.

Have I made you sound stupid enough yet?

If not then consult history, as many great people have done great things without being credited for it OR having someone else take their fame as they were also there.

I'm not crediting myself for this post, therefore I did not post it.

I think it has been noted that Payton's biggest influence on MGS4 was in getting the developers to understand the western control schemes. That was a great influence that helped make MGS4 the success it is today. I do not understand why news articles are being written about this guy's day to day. He is not a major player in the gaming industry. The fact that he is working in the US is mostly irrelevant.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Yeah, I read this on monday.

Sucks, but he's an awesome person, and needed to be in America. MGS5 will be fine.

I would really like to see what he can do on his own, not other peoples IPs (MGS, Halo).

Is he all he's really cracked up to be? Or is he just someone who's living in some franchise's spotlight?

This will be very interesting to see Halo 4 a stealth type game........ =.=

A combat revamp is the last thing Halo needs.

You are way out of your league buddy and one step away from beeing reported.

Your example has nothing to do with the current situation as there is always some undeniable proof regarding an appearence or voice over.

In Payton's case there's nothing, not only is he not credited for anything remotely related to the controls or design, but he himself never mentions it in any of the interviews. It's always "we are trying", "we decided", "we did it..." The guy was clearly and without a shadow of a doubt trying to catch some spot light and he succeded. He was basically the only Kojima Prod. member besides Kojima himself that did interviews in the West and he took full advantage of it.

It's true that he must be doing what he's doing right, he was among the few non-asian members in Kojima's team since MGS3:S, but as it stands now, his persona and especially involvement are extremely overated.

EDIT: Searching for more info i found an interview which kinda contradicts me :) (yes, i'm not the person to hide in a corner):

"One thing that I did was put an Xbox 360 in an area of the studio where there's a lot of foot traffic, and I also have a PS3 there, and I'll bring in western-developed games. I'll be playing them, or I'll just have it on and running through the intro, to be repeating on the title menu. People will pick it up and play it, and so now we have a lot of Gears fans, and people are playing BioShock. So people are checking out games that they wouldn't normally check out, and they're getting ideas and inspiration as far as, "OK, this is how things can work for us; this is what we like."

So i guess he did have something to do with the control scheme even if just in the form of a sugestion.

Still, i can't quite like the guy...dunno why, he seems fake as i mentioned earlier in my post.

So that about settles it (as far as i 'm conerned). CAL4M1TY i'm still mad at you, so beware at your language.
