Forums - Sony - I expect a PS3 price drop announcement by Sony on TGS

I'm starting to think there could possibly be a price cut this year, right now it cost Sony $400 to make a PS3 and there making most of the money on the games anyway so really they can't be losing to much money or any at all right now.

So a price cut could be possible

It won't happen. Sony isn't going to break the bank in order to please fanboys on message boards.

Yeah, pretty much.

But Sony is definitely going to care for their most important division and they won't let it fail due to their arrogance..

First of all, their gaming division isn't their most important divison. Second, making a price cut would make them lose money AGAIN. Last QTR they actually managed to get 50 mil...they need to get more money. They've said recently tiem and time again that they're focusing on profit right now.

If SONY suprisingly announces a pricedrop soon, please don't get mad.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

i would think that they would rather be making a profit in last position, than making losses in second right now. because either way, sales between the 360 and ps3 will be close this gen. they have just got to choose which pill they want to swallow. i think that a price drop now is the wrong pill.

well maybe it's time to give on market share ,, maybe

Its very funny how you say Sony lies when it convines you but you stick blindly to Sonys word when it convines you all the same.

Price cut? probably not likely, but there are other options for Sony.

One big issue for Sony is the expansion of its online services which would greatly be sped up if Sony just included a headset with every PS3. It wouldn't cost much for Sony, mabey $20 a pop.

Also, I think that for now, Sony would be content with just selling more hardware than the 360 with the software gap between them slowly closing. So, a $50 price cut would probably be a bit of overkill, but perhaps they will include something like *another* game or what have you. Price cuts aren't the only option.

They should do a $50 price cut+bundle a game. That equals to the value of a $300 premium 360... and even exceeds it, IMO.

Does $300 360 come with wireless built in, blu-ray and a lifetime subcription of online play? If not, definately exceeds it.

No but it does come with a headset and HDMI cable

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

A price cut for Sony would be a wise move I could see it grabbing the momentum it had back from the 360

Is gaming their most important division?  I would think electronics or movies were.

I would agree I would say electronics (epseically TV) then movie and finally gaming would be the order. They made a push were there Bravia line awesome TV's just bought the 52 inch Bravia what a picture
