Forums - Sony - Ok,LBP IS HUGE,atleast at Gamespot forums!2856 post already!

The game is not only on the GS forums that is big. It is consistently big in all gaming forums bar this one (which i don't understand why unless noone is in the beta yet)....

Whoever doubts this game they have to play the beta and then they should talk.

I'm in the beta at the moment and I can safely say that what everyone says about how fun the game is is true.... The reviewers are raving about it and it will get a lot of attention from mainstream media as well. Very few new IPs can actually manage that...

The game will not sell shedloads day 1 but will surely have unbelievable legs....

LBP will be huge!!!

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

I must say, the thing I like most about Sony fans is that they never seem to learn ...

It seems that every time a new PS3 game is announced Sony fans seek out the point where expectations are so high that dissapointment is practically ensured, and then double their expectations ... After the game comes out they wonder why so many PS3 games are considered failures even though they were profitable for the company and fairly good games overall.

Remember, MGS 4 was number 1 on forums for 3 straight years and it barely scratches the surface of games like Mario Kart Wii, Halo 3, Gears of war, SSBB, COD 4, GTA 4, Assassins Creed, etc. Forums mean nothing. I mean MGS 4 was supposed to "save the PS3 from extinction". It did NOT have steller sales and the fact that its out of the top 100 sales already is really sad and Halo 3 is still in the top 50 after over a year!

When did the PS3 go extinct? I didn't even know it was in danger.  Jenny, you are the only person on Earth that thinks MGS4 sales are a failure.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Re-read what I said ...

I never said Sony had more or less failures than any of the other systems, just that the PS3 has had far more games that have failed to even approach Sony fan's expectations. Sony fans have claimed that several games were 100% guaranteed to be 5+ Million selling games for the PS3, and yet the PS3 doesn't have a single game that has sold more than 5 Million units (with most of these games failing to sell more than 2.5 Million units); and there were a lot of games that Sony fans claimed would sell at least 2 Million units which still haven't sold 1 Million units.

For the most part, hyped Wii games have met or exceeded expectations being that sequels of popular Gamecube games have outsold the previous version of their series within 6 months of being released. Even the games that some people claim were failures (like Zack and Wiki and Boom Blox) have, over time, sold to the level that most people expected them to; for example, most people expected Zack and Wiki and Boom Blox to sell to the 500,000 to 1,000,000 range and (currently) Zack and Wiki has sold 430,000 units and Boom Blox has sold 500,000 units.

There are more examples of underperforming XBox 360 games than Wii games (Too Human for example) but there are still less of these games than there have been underperforming PS3 games, XBox 360 fans were never as vocal as PS3 fans seem to be, and there were some XBox 360 owners who were agreeing that expectations for these games was too high.

Obviously you are entitled to your opinion but it seems like you are for lack of a better word cherry picking. Ofcourse there will be fanboys everywhere that have wild expectations. But saying that Sony fans are somehow more "vocal" than the rest is kinda unfair considering you now have the benefit of hindsight in regards to the sales of games.

You're seriously underestimating the draw that free stuff has on people. I'll even sign up for betas on games I don't like (not saying I don't like LBP) just to try it for free.

35 millions vs 15 milllion it had to sell better

There are lots of games with lots of hype that didn't do better. Some people hate it but Assassin's was an amazing game with some huge innovations and it is a better game than MGS4. (Played both and both are good but MGS4 is above all a huge fan service with too many cutscenes, Assassin's had problems but what it did well it did amazingly well. )

I would feel a lot better if Little Big Planet was under-hyped at the moment. The hype for this game is mind blowing. I can't imagine what level of sales and critical acclaim will be required for this game to be considered a success. There was a time when 1 million in sales would have been a huge accomplishment for this title. PS3 fans need to remember that this is a new IP, it is an innovative title for consoles, and the PS3 install base is less than the other consoles.

I hope Little Big Planet will be huge.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
