The first half of 2008 will be a very good time for PS3 owners. Holidays 2007? Not really. Nintendo and Microsoft both have THREE megagames coming out this year; Sony also has three, BUT THEY COME OUT NEXT YEAR, GENIUS.

Unless Sony completely bucks the entire history of video games and retail sales, the holiday season outsells the rest of the year by far.

If Sony gives Europe the much needed PS3 price cut it needs, it could get a worldwide edge on the 360. The ONLY way the PS3 can win this holiday is if Nintendo has absolutely not started stockpiling for the holidays and the 360 bombs badly in Europe compared to the PS3.

The 360's lineup is gold for the NA audience, so I don't see the PS3 beating it there. I'm not sure what the PS3 has for Japan during the holidays, but I don't see the 360 beating it there simply because of the rate of adoption for Blu-ray and HDTVs. Once again, Europe is Sony's savior. If they can distance themselves comfortably in EU, they might be able to edge the 360 out.

The best Sony can do this holiday season is tie the Wii. Nintendo is guaranteed to sell everything they make this holday. I just don't think Sony is guaranteed the same thing. It could do very well though. I expect it will be very difficult to find a Wii starting by October. More difficult than now I mean.

 Well that's the PS2, not the PS3.  If we're going to judge by the 8th or whatever year the PS2 is in, then yeah, I'm sure the PS3 will be kicking butt in holidays of 2012, but for this year and probably next year, I think the Wii will be winning.

And for PS3 vs. 360, I don't know.  Other than MGS4, I think the 360 has the better chance to win at the holidays...Halo 3, GTA4 with its exclusive download stuff later...

If MS drops the 360 $100 across the board, they win the holidays over Sony.

A $200 360 with H3, GTA, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Ace Combat, and others. Sony has nothing to compete with that.

If they don't drop the price, it will be close. I think the 360 might edge out the PS3 slightly but I'm not sure.

 That's pretty close to what I'm thinking, just switch the last two:

 

DS > Wii > XBox 360 > PSP > PS3

 I do think the PS3 could overtake the 360 due to the fact that the 360 doesn't do well in Japan, but the 360 has Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, and a whole slew of games people are just going to eat up that is just going to make things very difficult for the PS3.

The last game I bought for my 360 was Rainbow Six Vegas and I played it like twice. I can't wait for the 360 lineup for the second half of the year. I need it. Gears of War is getting a little playing time again.
