Forums - Nintendo - Re-releasing Gamecube games on the Wii? Wasn't this a joke thread?

I think its a good idea as long as the new features are worth it and at a decent price. Meaning nothing over $20.

Some of these games cost over $20 used on GC so Nintendo should be able to justify to gamers at least a $30 pricetag for them considering how these are remakes.  MP currentlys costs under $5 used so I don't think Nintendo can justify $30 for it, though.  Even a remake of it shouldn't cost anything more than $25 (or 1/2 a normal full new game).  Than again, if Nintendo released MP and MPII on the same disc, $50 would be a very fair price.

The thing I just want people to consider, it is likely that a plane-jane port of a Gamecube game to the Wii with just changing the controlls probably takes less than 1/16th the resources it takes to make a Wii game; and a noticeably enhanced Wiimake of a game probably takes about 1/4 the resources it takes to make a Wii game.

Realistically, these ports would not have as dramatic of an impact on Nintendo's ability to make Wii games as people are making it out to be.

But what about new titles??

I mean seriously that event was a big disappointment....still no Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong or Pilotwings news

r u serious?

new punch out

dates for above and many other 'core' games like conduit, mh3, sp2, etc

This should have been their e3 presentation.

R u high lol. What r they going to have an option where Mike Tyson bites your ear off. Its punch out for god sakes.....Go buy fight night of some sort lol

Go play Gears or something.  It's obvious you're just trolling along because you continually ignore the fact that over a dozen new core titles were announced plus new hardware features and other information.

"Its punch out for god sakes.....Go buy fight night of some sort lol"

^This = fail.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Yes, that's right its punch out. One of the greatest and most complex boxing video games ever created.

If I wanted realistic boxing then I join a gym. I want fantastic arcade style boxing the only a true redesign of punch out can deliver.

I am one of the people here that is against porting GC games over to Wii. Don't get me wrong, a game like RE4 I will not complain about. But GC didn't have too many if those. IMO, The Wii has too much potential to waste time porting most of these games over.

Now that nintendo has got back the huge mainstream support that they once had, it's time to start funding more Wii-only games that are actually worth buying.

Correction it's not a port, it's repackaging. I'd be willing to bet they'll print it exactly as the GC copy would have been except with a new case at a reduced price which could be quite nice for some older cube games or harder to find ones like Pikmin 2 and Fire Emblem(not hard but it goes for 30$+ on ebay if they marketed it new for 19.99 I'd jump right on)

These games will have Wii controls.

changing a control scheme is pretty easy.. if you have the game and the knowledge of the controller input it could be done inside of a month with little monetary investment. I still consider it repackaging because upping the resolution and changing the controller map is relatively easy to producing a game or even 'porting' they generally upgrade the graphics.

Never played pikmin

Really looking forward to that game!

You've got to be kidding me. Nintendo announced about 10 titles at the conference just from them alone. Endless Ocean 2, Punch Out Wii, Sin and Punishment 2, Cosmic Walker, The Zelda looking game starring the chick, The action-RPG with the motions for magic attacks, plus like five games that look like Wii-Ware titles.

Its hard for me to get hyped about any old game.......

I wanted a new Donkey Kong & Pilot wings from them.....why is it so illogical not to have one now. The wii is dominating....it can only help

{bangs head in frustration}
