Forums - Microsoft - Fable II: Collector’s Edition now cheaper, download free Fable tracks

UPDATE:

Lesley Smith of Kotaku has passed an e-mail around from UK retailer Game regarding ever further cuts to the decreasingly collectible edition.

We have recently contacted you regarding a marketwide problem with the Fable II Collectors Edition. We have since been informed by Microsoft that there has been a further complication.

They have advised us that the developer diary and soundtrack are no longer going to be available on the bonus DVD.

No comment on the fact that Limited Edition pretty much = Regular Edition?

I thought more people cared about this game. I know I do.

Well that sucks. But my PRe-order of the collectors has been knocked down to the price of the standard.

They cut $10 off the price, but if they lose any more content then I'm downgrading to the standard edition. I rarely spend the extra money for collector's edition games (Oblivion and Halo 3 being the exceptions), but I went for it with this game because WRPGs are my favorite genre. When MS decided to raise the price of the Halo 3 Legendary edition from $100 to $130, I downgraded to the standard edition, then later bought Legendary at $80. Now they pull this stunt.

Very disappointing.

*pulls Microsoft's hand onto the table and gets out the big ugly ruler*

- The Hall of the Dead’ Dungeon
- The Wreckager’ Legendary Cutlass Weapon
- Spartan armor and energy sword

Any word on how good this armor and weapons are? Is it worth the extra $10 on the price tag?

What is this dungeon all about? I know I would want this, any info on it?

Very disappointing though, why can't MS keep their promise?

@Starcraft

How was your collectors edition lowered to standard pricing? It lowered to $69.99, not $59.99. You have connections?

Here in Australia the original RRP was $AU99.95 for the Standard and $AU119.95 for the Collectors.

I went to check on my pre-order after this news came in and they said I would get my Collectors for $AU99.95.

I want collectors edition for standard pricing.

That's nice. So you get free pub games and free DLC.

Yeah well we'll see.  It's possible the standard will drop in price to keep the Collectors Edition appearing valuable.  If that happens it will be great for Xbox 360 owners Australia-Wide.

On a wider note, I have to say this will cost MS some revenue on one of their biggest games.

I may still get this version just to run around in medieval times with Spartan armour XD

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Amen to that!

I hear the AI is going to be really involved in Fable II.  Perhaps using an energy sword to cut through an NPC's armor like a hot knife through butter will get some really interesting responses... "Good lord, sir! What on earth is that weapon you're weildi..." *ARGG... gurgle, gurgle*

Well, maybe not, but I can't rule it out considering the fact that the spartan armor and sword will both be in the game.
