Even if it's 25mb per song, that means a $7 2gb card will hold nearly 80 songs.
What is the problem?

| disolitude said: All those people arguing that GHWT will be better...consider this- Guitar Hero was started and designed by Rockband people(Harmonix). They did guitar hero 1 and 2. Then were ripped off for GH3 since they wanted to make rockband instead. Now that Rockband blew the Guitar Hero franchise out of the water...they are being ripped off again. Lets see if the copier can be better than the original...I seriously doubt it. |
And Harmonix originally ripped off GuitarFreaks by Konami.
I don't care who copied which game. If you can copy a game idea and make it better, better for the consumer.

They were not 'ripped off'. Konami holds most of the patents for these games, so they are really the originators of this genre. Both Activision and EA are paying Konami to use these patents. It's no more a ripoff than all the FPS games are ripping off Wolfenstein or Doom. As far as RB blowing out the GH franchise, you do realize GH3 was the best selling game in the past year? And that's not even including the Aerosmith version and all the DLC and merchandising.

Rock band obviously didn't sell more but it did blow GH3 quality wise.
I've played the konami games and yeah...they may hold the pattent the same way atari held the pattent for use of type of cartriges for a console. Nintendo and sega had to pay Atari to do the same but what they produced was 10 times better.
Any way you look at it Guitar Hero 3 is like Terminator 3 in a sense that James Cameron...original visionery and creator is nowhere to be found.
And if Rockband did not come out last year and change the way music games are played...we'd be playing "Guitar Hero 4:we're completely stale and out of ideas" game. All of these sub-games like Aerosmith and Rock the 80s proves that Activision is all about milking that license.

I don't think there is one.

Yes, because EA or MTV has never milked a franchise.

Not a problem...jsut asking if anyone knows how big the DLC files will be. You may like transfering songs and wiiware games from SD and back but that is not how I like to roll...

Drums appear to have better quality and have one more pad. Also, there will be midi connectivity allowing you too hook up other instruments for example any electronic drum kit. Guitar has new slide feature in neck and GH guitars seem to have better quality. |
Rock Band 2 drums have very good quality, and are expandable to have 2 more pads than GH:WT, as well as the option for double bass (from my understanding). I've played the RB2 drums. They are leaps and bounds better than RB1. Unless you prefer the 3 tom setup of GH:WT, I don't forsee any major differences between the sets.
Why buy Rock Band over Guitar Hero? Harmonix isn't bending you over and screwing you like Activision/Neversoft are in terms of compatability. It was a great thing when I got to play Rock Band 2 a few days ago...The person was using Rock Band 1 and 2 guitar controllers, modified Rock Band 2 drums, and a set list that is roughly the size of every single guitar hero game made. combined. Why? Because the entire idea of Rockband is modular accessibility - What worked in Rock Band 1, your DLC, instruments, and even songs are still going to work in Rock Band 2, 3, 4 and 5. Guitar Hero? We're on #6 (including Aerosmith and 80s) that have virtually no ability to merge track listings. Not only that, any songs from the previous games are going to have functionality with GH:WT's new instruments, which is retarded.
Sure, if you want to make and download niche songs that no one's heard of, get GH:WT. But if you actually want to play songs made by bands, and not get screwed over when Guitar Hero Rocks the Nurisng Home comes out with no compatability with Guitar Hero: Regional Tour, then feel free to do it. As for me, I'll take spending $65 for RB2, merging RB 1 + DLC over your $120+ GH:WT package that nullifies any purchase in the series you have ever made.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Oh, I hadn't heard anything about transfering anything. I thought GHWT DLC plays just like SSBB DLC, right off the SD card.

They havent made such an announcement yet so I'm thinking the worst possibility here is that they don't support SD card access. I guess we will see when it comes out.

It does.
