Thread title should read "So we all know Old Snake <3's his iPod" but it was truncated

I'm not sure this is right section section to post it in, but I couldn't think of a better one...

So I just bought MGS4, and I've noticed that Old Snake can use an iPod, and collect music for it.

What effect (if any) do you feel this has had on the image/sales of the iPod device, and do you think this is the beginning of closer Apple/SONY tie-ins or not?

I'm intersted to read your views on this

um i think they just did it to have people realise that the story is set very close to now
also to make snake look badass

I don't think it's the beginning of any deal (although it would make sense, Apple and Microsoft are rivals)

Besides, Sony had nothing to do with the game. Apple paid Konami/Kojima for product placement. Notice how all of the computers are Macs.

Now that you mentioned it, I do notice that...interesting. I haven't got to the Triumph cycle yet (or if I have I didn't notice)

And Playboy too! So not just Apple in this case. Bang goes my theory I guess!

It's great that these companies saw the potential of this game for placement of their products, obviously they thought it a great vehicle to improve their brand image and possibly sales too

It's also nice to see familiar brands in this game, its great they see potential in the gaming community.

Not that I'm intimately familiar with Playboy, of course (or would admit it)

They were just showing that even though he is an old bast**** he is still in touch with the kids. Snake never goes anywhere without his trusty Ipod

Btw some of the music will have special effect like making a holdup-ed enemy fall asleep etc. Its silly but fun to try out once at least.
