Forums - Microsoft - This month's OXM has a play-by-play of Gears 2's first 90 minutes

It said on the front cover that they will reveal the first 90 minutes of play, so I bought it, thinking it would be relatively spoiler-free.  I was somewhat disappointed when I read (in the article's opening paragraph) that there would be massive spoilers, so I haven't read that part yet, but they have said that the game feels amazing so far.

I'm currently debating as to whether or not I want to read the whole article, because it's obviously something Epic doesn't mind spoiling...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Dont go into the light!

Dont read it.

(except if you are sure they are not so big spoilers)

Time to Work !

Do not read it. Wait to experience it yourself.

Don't read it. After obsessing over uncharted last year, I found myself having watched about 1/4 of the game.... but it was still awesome, that water is just memorising

What I would do is just skim through and find how many times it says awesome, and then you will have your answer how good they think it is.... I think they're going to say it is awesome

What did they say about the story so far? That's suppose to be one of the aspects other than multiplayer that are suppose to be improved over the original GoW.

Spoilers? Unless it's a JRPG when someone dies, it doesn't matter in an FPS.

^^I'll probably end up reading it, but seriously? JRPGs are the only genre where you care about the story/characters? And you wouldn't care at all if someone spoiled that an important main character died in Resistance?

That's the stupidest thing I ever heard about concerning JRPGs.  There are some good JRPG stories but a lot of them aren't very good and more often than not, the characters are also generic and stereotypical.  Also, ever heard of Metal Gear Solid series, Bioshock, or Half Life 1 and 2?  Those said games are praised for their storytelling and they aren't JRPGs(though Bioshock does have some RPG elements).

I just read it--nothing too expository, storywise. Cliff reiterated that main characters WILL die at some point in the game, but didn't say who or why. The biggest 'twist' is that one character gets attacked by the end-boss in the last cutscene they saw, but they don't know if he lives or dies so it's not much of a spoiler.

BTW, Cliff is also describing the game, storywise, as their 'Empire Strikes Back', which falls in line with the darker storyline they're clearly going for. I can't wait!
