Or you could just say that there were 6 million 360s shipped by the end of September, and guesstimate those units sold through around PS3/Wii launch. That 6 million lead has shrunk to 4.25 for Wii, and grown to 7+ for PS3. Close enough for government work.

In Japan at the moment the PS3 has been selling at or under 20k a week for the last few weeks (minus the last 2 weeks with Virtual Fighter 5, been at 25k). We're excited to see the top10 software sales next week with 2 new Wii games coming out (Fire Emblem and Naruto), and wondering how the PS3 will fare as well (I think "Untold Legends" is coming out or something along those lines). We expect Monster Hunters 2 for PSP to take first, however, with almost 500k sales. The battle for everything underneath will be the interesting one. ;)

I'm here. Been out pimpin' with the girls. (hey, me and 3 girls... cant complain) Just got back from the movies, as well as a limited vacation out of state. But seriously. If you think more than 50million of Wii's will be sold in 5 years. ROFL. Nintendo needs to work on something first. It's called MASS PRODUCTION. See, In 5 years, with current production numbers. it would take 5 years to produce that many for america. not counting europe, and japan. Add japan. Let's add another 75million. (because japan has a higher percentage of people who enjoy that kind of thing) And add europe... let's just say 40million there, because they like the PS3. We are looking at over 150million Wiis. That translates into over 3million/month. Wait. in 5 years they wont be makeing a Wii. Because Wii2 will be out. Actually Wii3 would probibally be announced. lol

ROFL at the girls part. you are right with the productions problems that nintendo has. i think they should create another factory so they can make 3 millions wii`s a month, the main problem is the dsl they are making as much as they can , but they are selling pretty well. and i think they are focusing more in the dsl than in the wii.

Nintendo is a little too profit-oriented with their hardware production, as seen by all these shortages. Then again, give 'em a break. DS did what? 19 million in the last 9 months of 2006? Or was that for a full fiscal year? And Wii has done 5 million in the 3 months after launch. Those are pretty hard numbers to keep up with.

@Kwaad: Nintendo expect to sell 23 million DS units between March 06 and March 07, so ramping up Wii production won't be a problem. Also, 75 million units in Japan would be 2 per household? Are you sure? The potential is more like 25 million. And as usual, I'd say Nintendo don't have to win anything. Just outsell the N64 (say 40+ million units worldwide) and we're in for another 5 years of unique and fun gaming.

The Wii has roughly outsold the 360 by a factor of 2:1 during the corresponding 3 months after launch!
WRONG! The xbox 360 sold 1.13 million in December and 1.6 million between November and December and the wii sold about 1.1 million! Check npd and hush!
