Forums - Microsoft - Fable 2 Missing Online Co-Op At Launch

The fun thing is what actually happened at Lionhead could be this:

"Gee guys, we won't have enough time to polish the dog AI if we have to get the netcode finished by gold time"; "np, we'll prioritize dog AI and deliver netcode via patch"

But what our friend Vlad321, defender of users with non-unlimited bandwith ISP's thinks it happened is

"GAME ISNT DONE! RUSH DELIVER AND COLLECT GOLD! BRING IN THE BEER!"

In other words, you don't have any knowledge, nor any proof, yet you spam the forum with your catastrophistic assumptions.

Btw, anyone here who works on software development can please lecture him on how software is in truth NEVER finished and theoretically speaking it could stay in development forever because there's always something to polish and optimize?

I have an idea... let's send an email to Peter and ask him what happened.   Considering his rather candid remarks, lately, he might just surprise us and provide a real answer.

The same people bashing LBP for this are in here defending Fable 2 for it.

I would say Go to Hell, but that might be rude, so read between the lines and get what I infer.

I'm bashing both equally. Both developers fail to deliver what's promised, what if the gamer doesn't have internet hooked up or something? Major Fail on the developer side imo.

How's having the patch ready the week the game releases failing to deliver on promises? At max. we are looking at 2-3 days you'll be missing out this functionality. There's not even a case to be made for arcade users, playing on xbox live mandates a hard disk anyways - many games require post-release patches and anyone with the console plugged to the intertubes will want a hard disk anyways for the demos and xbla games.

If the gamer doesn't have internet hooked up why does missing the patch to enable internet coop hurt him?

Maybe his ISP isn't the unlimited type, like say anything over a certain treshold will cost you a bunch of money. Why should he have to waste his badnwidth for something that should have come in the box?

You really are grasping at straws lol. You've been caught flaming Fable 2 for something that is not an issue yet you come back again. A+ for effort tho lmao.

If someone didn't have an unlimited type ISP he'd be paying so much money the patch would be just crumbs in comparison. Do you know how much bandwith online gaming eats? The patch is peanuts. I know because I used to play EQ with germans before unlimited rates were marketed over there - geebus, their bills were scary.

So, what's next... the effort to click on the "patch the game" button is such a bear on the strength of the gamers it might shorten their lifespan? Or are you gonna argue about the HDD footprint of the patch? Heck, maybe downloading the patch is gonna affect the half-life of the copper wiring?

This is a non-issue but I'm not gonna try to stop you, the self-owning is always entertaining.

That pretty much wraps it in a bow you dont have the bandwith to download a patch you sure as HECK arent playing any games online.  f the game as great I can live withour online co cop for a few weeks

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Alright then you said it yourself. Why don't they have enough time? Why not just push the game back a week or two?

Because it doesn't hurt anyone nor it causes any harm to any consumer neither it delays the game if they just deliver the netcode later, which is what they are doing.

Well, they did forget it might hurt deeply some vgchartz forum user, tho.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Again, if they didn't have time to include what was promised for a while what ensures that they polished the game enough? No matter which way you look at it they should have pushed the game back. A few weeks never hurt anyone.

If a game is released missing an important component then common sense dictates that they aren't releasing the game in good time , they could delay the release so that the full thing could be put on the shelves .

What's all the debating for ?

Hell yeah, especially in the light of the fact that Fable 2 will be launching with online co-op.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

But it will include what was promised. Why does it matter it's available for download instead of on the disc? Do you have some kind of fetish hate for downloadable content?

By the way, do you even own a 360 or ps3?

Wasn't it mentioned earlier bugs and unforseen circumstances pop up all the time? Are they gonna have the time to fix all the bugs in the netcode as well in between? Also, I love downloadable content, as long as it's not somethign that should have been on the hard copy of the game (or the Steam dowload...).

Personally no, but in our apartment we have 4 wiis and 2 PS3 and 2 360s split between 6 TVs. My best friend dating back from 10th grade owns one of the PS3s and 360s and since I've been rooming with him sicne day one up here 've basically had unlimited access to all 3 consoles, 1 of the Wiis is mine. They have some good games and I plan on playing LBP and Fable 2 when they will be inevitably bought, but I don't expect to be blown away at all. Learned my lesson from Fable 1 and since hearing this my Fable 2 expectations dropped even more.

So you don't own the consoles, there's no loss of promised functionality at launch and here you are bitching to high heavens because of something that's not an issue.

If the internet didn't exist you'd probably chain yourself to a tree on some construction site. I can't believe you're still posting in this thread to defend your e-honor after you got mad-owned several posts ago with the whole online fiasco. You really want to save face.

Oh yeah, and there's no need for the online patch to be on the hard copy. Suck it up.
