Forums - General - Don't you think ads are more annoying now than when we depended on them?

Like seriously, since this website joined whatever big network of internet publications, the ads are more annoying than the stupid emoticons with sounds. I hate the big ad that blocks me from signing on or read part of a thread. What's up with that? Can ioi make those ads less annoying? What say you?

What are you looking at, nerd?

Teddy...

[Don't believe his lies]

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Oh boy. Let me help you out. Rule 1 for VgChartz - don't attack members.

Rule 2. Don't attack the ads.

Rule 3. If you break either Rule 1 or 2, you will be banned.

/end.

I prefer these ads to the other ones. I no longer have to worry about waking my house mates with "win a free Wii" blaring through my speakers.

I thought this thread would be about how ads from the 40's and 50's used to be informative and now they are only meant to get quick attention and get people talking.

I have a question - has an online ad ANYWHERE made you want to go out and buy the product? Have you ever bothered to even click on an ad with a link?
