In the same way Crash Bandicoot was Sony's Mario maybe.
Though really i'd put it more towards Killzone 2. Either way neither will measure up when the chips or down. (Not that i even like halo... but objectivly.)

Gran Turismo says hi.
Im not trying to argue but halo is like a mass appeal game GT , although it has been out longer , is a niche game ( not trying to belittle it). Ive been to 4 different schools and no one talks about GT although a good game it doesnt have the marketing it behing it to become a halo , mario , jordan level brand
Insomniac are some of the only game developers I have seen who actually read the reviews of their games, and improve what people say is bad. They say they want online co-op, Insomniac gives them 8-player online co-op in a completely different campaign.
I suppose Resistance could be called Sony's Halo, but I agree with everyone who said it is going in the opposite direction, from good to excellent.
I doubt it will get Halo's sales. I'm not sure why Halo manages to sell more copies than it really should (Halo 3 sold 8.1 million). Halo and Resistance were both launch games for their platforms, so Resistance should have every bit as much popularity as Halo. Of course, the review scores are lower and I'll admit Combat Evolved is a better game than Fall of Man. But I'm going to guess R2 will be better than Halo 2 (because Halo 2 was pretty bad by Halo standards)

GT "niche game" you must live in crazy land, GT has had more impact then Halo could ever imagine to have. GT has had a major impact on the automotive industry, companies are selling cars WW because of GT. GT is used to test and advertise cars, they use it to show cars off before anyone ever sees them. People buy $300 wheels and $200 playseats just to play GranTurismo. GT sponsers car races and the creator of GT is a very well respected person in most automotive circles.
thats what a niche is . GT appeals to car enthusiast which last time a checked their aint much of therefore is in the catagory of a 'niche'.But the general public probably doesnt know what GT but most of them do know what the halo franchise is.Hell even my mom knows what halo is.( im not trying to be a fanboy so srry if im leading u to believe that)

1. Because its a great game and better FPS package than any FPS available on ps3 thus far.
2. Difference is that Halo 1 was revolutionary at the time and an experience never seen on a console before with quite a good story to boot. Resistance was an ok, run of the mill shooter that only got the attention it did as it was the only PS3 launch title worth purchasing.
3. Halo 2 was an amazing gaming achievement for a console. There is no way Halo 3 would have had such amazing launch sales had Halo 2 not been great. WIll resistance 2 be as good as Halo 2 was when it came out...i doubt it, but we will know in Novemeber.
