Forums - Sony - Please Sony...

Perhaps if WKS is a big hit, Sony may consider making the acquisition??

It would be more logical for them to team up with Nintendo. And even more logical to just stay like they are.

Naughty Dog has 85 employees. Insomniac has over 175 employees.

Level 5 has 150 employees, it wouldn't be difficult for Sony to grab L5 under its wing as they have done with Insomniac.

I agree 110% outlaw, i just looked it up! so lets hope WKC sales well so sony can get an exclusive JRPG team!

Insomniac is NOT a Sony first or second party developer, they are independent just like Level 5.

I know Sony doesn't own Insomniac, but you can't deny they are a very special relationship for one private company to have access to all of Sony's resources and developer resources.

Yes and I agree with you, its not a matter of cost, Sony isn't pruchasing Insomniac because insomniac prefer to remain independent, but should insomniac sometimes in the future decides that they want to do a wii game, they could, unlike Naughty Dog. Heck didn't Studio Liverpool in their Pygnosis days brought Wipeout to the N64?

If they could, why not?

If the forum propaganda is true, why hasn't everyone developed games for Wii and only Wii? I they could do whatever they wanted, I don't see why they did 4 Ratchets in 4 years and are doing Ratchet and Resistance every 2 years.

They certainly have a good relationship with Sony, the key word here is COULD not would or even should.

Naughty Dog being owned by Sony would never be able to physically do that unless Sony gives them the okay, all it takes for Insomniac to do it is to destroy their relationship with Sony (not that its likely to happen), considering that they have worked with Sony for so many years that SCEA practically think they are family, I doubt they have any incentive to branch out.

The problem with buying a game developer is that often when you do the talent walks out the door. You need an extremely good relationship with a developer before you buy them.

Otherwise what happened to Rare happens.

That was essentially one large sum of money for a brand, no? Though I suppose it's not all bad, Rare stil at least generates some buzz and therefore publicity.

More on topic... Why would Level 5 even want to be bought? They get funding for the bigger games and remain free to do whatever they'd like. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. What benefits would selling even bring them??
