Naughty Dog has 85 employees. Insomniac has over 175 employees.

Level 5 has 150 employees, it wouldn't be difficult for Sony to grab L5 under its wing as they have done with Insomniac.

 

 Insomniac is NOT a Sony first or second party developer, they are independent just like Level 5.

I know Sony doesn't own Insomniac, but you can't deny they are a very special relationship for one private company to have access to all of Sony's resources and developer resources.
