Sorry man, but I just read the whole OP and it just sounds like a badly written Sony PR statement (Still quite good by VGchartz standards...).
A for effort
F for content
Potential seems to be a problem.

As you mentioned sony ARGUABLY has the best line up, both 360 and WII have solid line ups this Christmas also to be honest I would call it a toss up. But as you mention toe 360 is half the price of the PS3 so why get a PS3?
You also mention the library of games, the 360 has a much richer and deeper library of games to choose from since it has been out for longer. So if you are chossing for abudance of games the 360 is the clear choice.
True home is coming out but in November Live re launches with a complete make over itself.
The only valid point is the Blu ray player, and I just dont think that is going to propel it victory this christmas. I think it will go WII, 360 and finally PS3 in third.
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.
Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game
Xbox live:mywiferocks
@ OP:- How long have you been working for Sony? All of a sudden a CASUAL game. (The type of game HD snobs love to hate) is the best thing since sliced bread!
DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!
In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
LBP is not a casual game, or rather its not only for casuals, it has a very appealing casual element in its presentation but the meat of the game (its level creation tool) has far more depth to be merely a tool for the 'casuals'.

I just don't see the compelling thing about PS3 other then blu-ray...
The difference between PS3 and 360 is cost, total game selection, and blu-ray. If you must have a blu-ray player, and want to play games PS3 is the way to go.
If you don't care about blu-ray and more about game selection, 360 is $100 cheaper for a comparable model, and many really good games are well below the price of even PS3 greatest hits.
If price is king then you will buy a 360 or Wii. If you have to have blu-ray PS3 is the way to go.
Little Big Planet looks amazing, potentially one of the greatest games ever imo. I love SMW, and I create my own SMW levels on my computer despite the trouble. LBP looks like SMW, but with better graphics, cuter, and much much better level editor than lunar magic. Too bad its on PS3 though, I don't have one :(

| megaman2 said: As you may all know christmas is looming upon us with many great titles coming out for all consoles in the next months, consumer spending will go to the roof. What does christmas have in store for the ps3? In my following thread I will be analysing both Christmas and the Q1 of 2009, to give you an idea what is in store for the ps3 in the next 6 months. I will also give my prediction on the console war that is raging between the Xbox 360 and Sony Ps3. The christmas period will be extremely important for the ps3 and it's future, the ps3 must use this christmas to cut the gap with the Xbox 360. This holiday season will be the pinacle period in the console war, with the Xbox 360 being half the price in all regions, christmas will decide the faith of the console war! This christmas the Sony ps3 has arguably the best gaming line up of all three consoles, these titles include:
As you see from the list there is a lot of diversity to meet the needs of the consumer. I expect these games to do really well and ignite the sales of the ps3. Sure to generate consumer spending and convince consumer playstation is their home to be! Another reason why its the best time for consumers to purchase a ps3 is the platinum line up of games at affordable prices. With games such as Uncharted, Ratchet and clank and Resistance at bargain prices now is the time for consumers to make that choice, as 2008 has shown the ps3 is the consumer choice for HD gaming! The game that I really feel could be a (monster) system seller is Littlebigplanet, the game has garnered so much hype and enthusiasm from journalists and gamers. If this game manages to deliver on its promise of creativity and manages to meet the high expectations. This game can really capture that casual market or people that enjoy playing casual games. Bringing in both new and potential consumers. The games that will have a specific in their region, for example games such as Fifa 09 and Pes 09. These games will have a huge effect in Europe, sparking new interest for the ps3. As history has shown football games peform better on the Sony playstation, similar scenario with Madded where the sales are favoured on the Xbox 360 and its american region. Another game that could have a postive effect is White Knight Chronicles, this game could be a potential system seller. That will coincide nicely with the christmas spending in Japan. The arrival of Home which is expected at the end of October, if Home manages to deliver on its promise and meet the expectation of gamers. Then this will only add more value to the ps3, and can potentially become a serious competitor/threat to Xbox live, with the service being free will only make consumer choice easier! But the Sony ps3 is more than a gaming machine, it has the best blu ray player on the market. For those who want to take a break from gaming and enjoy high definition movies that option is available to the consumer. The movies that I feel can persuade consumers to make that purchase are movies such as:
These are just a few examples but the Dark Knight release on blu ray will spark a huge interest for existing and new consumers. With the demand for HD continiously growing, Blu ray is the option! In conclusion I expect the ps3 to cut the gap sufficiently this christmas, I expect this effect to continue to go into Q1 of 2009. With the release of Killzone 2 and Infamous sure to generate excitement and sales. And the blockbuster title Resident evil 5 that will spark sales in Japan, and I expect the japan market to steadily increase with christmas going into 2009, I expect the ps3 to overtake the Xbox 360 ww sales come Q2 of 2009, the momentum will continue! If by any chance Sony cuts the price between now and the Q2 of 2009, sales will go to the roof. I really hope Sony cuts the price of the Ps3 so my good friend DJmeister can buy one, as he is one of many consumers waiting for the price cut! Enjoy guys and Merry Chiristmas!!

Megaman I think you're going about this the wrong way. You need to define "best" in terms of what the games achieve for the userbase and what they bring to the overall package of the console. Now you need to ask yourself what makes a game significant and who would find it significant. Lets take a few examples from the both Xbox 360 and PS3 because im more familiar with the Xbox 360.
Fable 2 is the only big WRPG fantasy game coming out this year. Its believed to be a high quality game so it should draw a lot more audience from outside the core RPG fans. Its designed to be an easy, accessible game with a multitude of things to do so it should appeal to a wide range of tastes. So if you take the assumption that it will be an excellent game as previews have indicated and include the factors that it has wide appeal, little competition in its genre, and Co-Op to help spread word of mouth about this game it will be a significant seller and it should help drive console sales.
Little Big Planet (LBP) is the hardest game to pick in terms of significance. It has so many factors in its favour and just as many against it. The biggest question to answer is "Will it be fun/Compelling" for a lot of people out of the box. If the answer is yes then we can start to talk about other concepts of LBP and how together they make the game significant. This is really a "Show don't tell" type game. Its difficult for many people to conceptualise the game without actually seeing the game itself as there are too many different factors to for an average person to really understand its core concept. Thats why the first question is significant, it has to be absolutely fun/accessible and compelling to people so they will share their experience of this game with others. Unlike Fable 2 we really have to talk about "potential significance" here and the potential of this game increases rapidly the better the game is.
Because this game is a world unto itself it doesn't matter so much that there aren't any other "Mainstream" titles on the PS3 in this genre. The concept and expandability of this game is massive, just as people really don't need to own both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, people most likely won't need more than one of these games to play so long as the core concepts are extremely sound and mainstream. If there was a example of a game which whos concepts said "Come play with me", "Share my world" On the PC or consoles noticeably better than this game I cannot see it. For that reason alone an "excellent LBP" will drive console sales. The users themselves will advocate both the game and the system and there is no more powerful form of marketing than that.
Tease.

If hell froze over now with Microsoft in it, then maybe, otherwise.........i just don't think so. PS3 is 5.4million consoles behind At 150 000 consoles a week, ignoring holiday sales, sales spikes etc for simplicity sake, it would take 41 weeks for the PS3 to catch up to Xbox's current numbers. That brings us right to the end of the 2nd quarter. Now of course PS3 will probably sell more than 150 000 consoles a week because of the holiday boost but i still haven't heard anything about an expected cold spell in hell.
i want resistance 2 the most out of all those titles coming out in 2008
