I'ma go six million lifetime for Gears, and around 3.2 for Resistance. I'd say more for Resistance, but the FPS genre is flooded on both HD systems, so some people on the fence may choose, say, Call of Duty 5. This won't affect sales a huge amount, but will still be noticeable. Gears' play style is still fairly unique, so you don't have many options if you want that type of game.

Does anyone believe that Resistance will win? Gears 2 will overshadow all media when it gets released just like what Halo 3 did. Microsoft will spend tens of millions to let everyone on the planet know that its comming. Gears 2 first week sales will be 2.5 million, Resistance first week will be 500k.

The gap could be larger if Resistance 2 doesn't see the heavy bundling the first title did.

I wish we would actually compare the games a little more after the info that has been released. Is there really any question as to which one sells more?

I think the ratio for Gears 2 and Resistance 2 will be 9 : 1

It was in the starter pack that made PS3 sales explode in PAL.  It was also part of the later deal to get one Sony-published title with a PS3 I believe.

As well as other sporadic bundling from time to time.

I have seen Resistance 2 vs Gears 2 about 8 times.
Give it rest.

The reason why both Motorstorm and Resistnace sold in the millions, was because they were bundled.

Resistance is not as memorable as the first Gears of War.

Resistance 2 will sell just about the same as the first Resistance.

I did not play Gears 1.... my friends said they did not like it, and I tend to stay away from the 360 as much as possible. I actually did not play Res 1 either... I got a 360 after COD4... so I have stuck with that.

I am interested Res 2, and Farcry 2.
