“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

1UP, they're behind the magazine EGM, correct? If so. I'll comment on my thoughts on them. I like the magazine and think their website is good but I notice they seem to have a bias against the Wii, not specifically Nintendo. It seems they don't care for the play control of the Wii and the graphic capabilities. They don't nearly as often review the Wii version of a game despite the fact it will obviously be the most different. Their comments on the Wii or many of the games is overly negative.

And Sean Baby or whatever stupid name he uses is an absolute ass clown. I remember when the Wii was first shown and the controller and nunchuk and most everyone in the industry had postive things to say but all he did was rip it during an appearance on G4.

Reallly? Didn't they gave Boom Blox a 10?  (A+)

I thought they were a good site, it's weird they gave Wario that score.

Off hand, I'm not sure. They might have and I wouldn't be surprised if they liked it and I know they have liked some other obvious favorite Wii games such as Super Mario Galaxy but other lesser titles that get positive or fairly strong reviews, they seem to dislike or put down.

I like the site and love the magazine though, I've subscribed on and off (mostly on) for over 10 years and even before that, I would pick up the occassional issue dating back to when I was in high school in the early and mid 90's. I think they're probably one of the better gaming mags and have a lot of interesting features. I just don't care for their attitude towards the Wii.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

I have this game and if you like other Wario Land games there is no reason you won't like this one.

The game looks and plays beautifully and the controls are simple to learn.

It may not be a long game, but it wasn't meant to be either. What other Wario Land was?

The music may be a little weird and out of place, but hey, that's Wario Land!

I love this game. =D

I LOVED super mario land 3: wario land on GB. Played it a TON! I would get this game straight away, but I just KNOW its going to flop and sell for $20 on ebay ecome febraury. I won't repeat the mistake I made last year with Nights: Journey of Dreams.

1 Up review summary:

This platformer is gorgeous. I used to love platformers, and this game takes me back. Wario Land is a great series. However, I am bored of platformers. This game adds nice new motion controls, variety, level design, action, collectibility and humor, but since I am bored of platformers, this game bored me due to lack of changing the forumla beyond "hop on and off platfomrs and explore and collect things".
C+

(personal note-BK is "shaking things up", so it may actually get high scores)

Bored of platformers, You 1 up idiot. Did you not play SMG and loose yourself in giddy school boy excitement like the rest of us.

Running on walls, ceilings and messing with gravity is without doubt the best thing to come out of platforming in a while and a significant fish slap in the face of any platforming critic.

Sometimes 1UP can give some really crappy scores. 58 for Wario Land?! Bleh. They're the lowest de Blob score right now. I also remember them giving Trauma Center: New Blood a ridiculous score of 40.

There are only a few reviewers left at 1up who are anygood. Hell most of the new guys are my age (early 20's) and have far less gaming experiance than me.

I got and loved Wario Land, Wario Land 3 and Wario Land 4. I'm pretty sure I'll love this one as well. As foretold, Wario games are never quite big anyways.

C+ on 1up does not equal out to 58% does it? I thought C+ is a 70% or something. No?

Just kiss the tip.

looks like a love it or hate it game.

fans will get something out of this, but its just a normal platformer, but you "shakey shakey" the controls to burst things.

not my kind of game, i predict it will sell well though
