Forums - Sony - BIOSHOCK ps3 review by psm3 (93)? a slight anomaly! read on..............

looks like the 1st review of ps3 bioshock is in by psm3 which gave it an impressive 93

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=197709

taken from review "However, PSM3 also admits: "If you're a lucky multi-format owner who favours visuals over some extra puzzle levels, you're probably better off with 360's original. Otherwise, you needn't panic: Rapture shines on every format and plays identically."

ok so it looks as if the game is obviously ported over, hence mabey a visual drop here and there. but on a recent ign preview i found this below.

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/897/897091p2.html

"Although it was still an early build of the game, the title looks fantastic. The water effects look much slicker, as do many of the environments as they are slowly submerged in water. It's quite obvious that 2K is taking full advantage of the PS3's Blu-ray discs to pack in cleaner high resolution textures for every facet of the game"

if ign who had hands on with ps3 version who said the textures are better, water effects are better etc, taking that into account. do you think bioshock on ps3 was lowered down for retail release? that is going off the psm3 review?

why would an early build look better than final build?

discuss if you want^

and stay on topic, no flaming or trolling

Simple. The early build was a specific part that looked nicer. Or, the early build was missing some things the final game required, so when they were added in the PS3 couldn't maintain the earlier visual state.

Or, the "early build" was actually running on a 360 rigged to run with a Dualshock 3.

well /scratch head I don't knoe.

I would probably go with IGN, simply because I trust them more anyway.

Since it had a looong time between releases I would definatly think it would be more than just a port. New levels sound nice.

Actually, the first two parts are not, and the third was a joke.

^ i know you was only humouring.

on topic though, i do find it strange that a preview copy looks better than final copy

game is confirmed to be same though, so people will enjoy ps3 bioshock

but i can recall 2k saying they are just aiming for parity on both, so one isnt better than other, hence i feel they must have tuned down textures.

that is unless ign was lying which i doubt they was.

Ive seen a video compairing both and I really didnt see anything between them(maybe one looked a little darker than the other lol but that isnt here or there). I do have to question the ign guy since it was the first time that anyone had said anything about being that much of a diff and with the devs saying over and over how they were trying to match the 360 version. To be honest I have to question both having seen both I dont see the 360 as looking any better or in any way the ps3 looking better? Who knows lol.

I dont think we need to get into conspiracy theories over something that you'd notice only if you stared at screens for hours.
