In 2006 everyone was confident PS3 would be #1. Analysts, journalists, fanboys, and so on.

In 2007, after a rocky launch and some questionable exclusives, most journalists and analysts had moved on, but loyal fans still said, "wait until ___ is released!"  or  "wait until the prices drops to $___!"

In late 2008, after the price drops and both IV & 4 failed to move more hardware than Wii, I notice most PS3 fans say, "who cares about sales?" or "PS3 isn't  competing with Wii, they are in different leagues"  

I'm really curious to see if anyone still believes PS3 will win the war outright, not 2nd place, not 1st HD console, but 1st overall, and why.

I think all three consoles are still in the race...

That doesn't mean I think PS3 will win, but I doubt any are throwing in the towel for the generation anytime soon.

1st overall is out of the question. The wii is way ahead. 1st HD is most likely to happen.

No, I don´t....though, if you ask me, what´s unique in this generation is how the 'losing' systems keep getting the bulk of major 3rd party titles...you didn´t see that in past generations...with that said, even with the system being in 3rd place, it keeps getting most major 3rd party titles anyway, so it really shouldn´t matter unless you´re one of those 'companyboys'.

As a result of Sony talking bullshit about PS3 having a 10 yr plan certain fanboys are going to continue to believe PS3 can win even up to 2016 even if PS3 has sold 70million and Wii has sold 150 million and Wii 2 has been out for 3 years and sold 60 million

I think you are mixing up your HD console fanboys. 360 fans say "xbox isn't competing with wii", the ps3 fans say "Ten year plan!"
