I've bought all the good ones this gen, and I will buy Persona 4.

All my favorite posters on this forum love jrpgs.

So yeah, to me, Final Fantasy and Zelda are what matters. The rest is filler between those franchises.

 

but you will be missing versus though.

You seemed to think FFXIII had a whole lot more importance prior to it becoming multiplatform.

Also, Zelda is not a RPG. It's action adventure.

Important in that they reflect the culture of the time, or important in that they can change the face of a console war?

I think the "anymore" is misleading, here. If you mean culturally important, sure. As much as ever. Pokemon alone will ensure that for years.

If you mean console war important? They never were. People point to Final Fantasy VII as the game that put the Playstation on the map, but that's not true and never has been. JRPGs have never been "important" enough in libraries to shift the direction of the industry.
