I know God exists because I have seen evidence of his existence in my own life, as well as in physical manifestations in the world around my by way of undeniable miracles.

I personally witnessed the following:

A woman in my church had most of the vertebrae in her back fused together after a horseback riding injury, she couldn't bend her back and was always in pain. We all gathered around and prayed for her, the pain left, and she was able to touch her toes, something she hadn't done in over 20 years. X-rays confirmed that the fused vertebrae were no longer fused.

A friend of mine had torn a ligament in his hand (the one connecting to his thumb) right off the bone, and had no control over his thumb. He needed surgery to fix it, and the doctors only expected 40% total movement & control to return after the surgery. He was at a healing conference and raised his hand when they asked for people with hand issues, we heard a pop come from his hand, and he was immediately able to move it 100%. His doctor, formerly an athiest, now attends my friends church.

I was in a pretty bad car accident that damaged several ligaments in my back, and required physical therapy. My Doctor even debated surgery, but then deemed it not necessary. I was in serious daily pain and on pain medication/muscle relaxers right up until the day I got prayer from the congregation at my church. Since that moment, my back pain left, I went off all medication, received no more physical therapy, and my doctor said the injury was completely gone. In addition to this, a genetic curvature of my spine that concerned my doctor went away as well.

Heard from reputable sources (personal friends):

On recent mission trips to Africa & Honduras, a good friend of mine saw the following, corroborated by several witnesses:

AT LEAST 5 deaf people regained their hearing. 2 Blind people regained sight. A girl with severe autism completely healed an socially normal after prayer. A young man healed of cataracts, they watched the cloudiness disappear from both eyes. 2 Women healed of hernias.

In Uganda, one of the former leaders of a rebel group responsible for killing multiple thousands of people (The LRA) was recently saved. He left the group and now travels preaching the love and peace of Jesus. Several friends of mine were there to see him speak to a group of villagers whom he was responsible for many deaths of family members. He expressed his deep sorrow and shared his testimony.

These are just a few things I've seen or heard recently. Just because you haven't seen the evidence of God's power does not mean it doesn't exist. I have personally witnessed many undeniable examples of the power of God being displayed in the physical world. I am not engaging in blind faith, but in an active, living relationship with a loving God that I don't believe exists, I KNOW He exists.

Awesome

I personally should have died or at least had serious brain damage when I was born with very serious complications, however I survived with no other problems, plus many other personal experiences have given rise to my belief.

The only thing that bugs me about religious phenomena is when charlatans such as Benny Hinn and Peter Popoff exploit it to enrich themselves. I saw his (Hinn's) program today and the whole program was about "wealth-transfer" from non-believers to believers.

That's really interesting, because I was reading SciAm a few months back and there was a study done on whether praying helps people recover from injuries and/or surgeries. If the patient didn't know he wass prayed for, there were no changes. If they did know they were getting prayed for they actually took longer to recover than the average. It's speculated that it's a psychological thing. If you see people praying for you then you start thinking "man I must be in bad shape if there's even people praying for me." So I don't know where your article came from but it does sound fishy, and in direct contradiction with the one from Scientific.

Also interesting as there was a report in February I read  that said the exact opposite thing, that people showed quicker recovery times with prayer. Most people see being prayed for as a sign of support and being loved, thus wanting to recover and be with their loved ones sooner.

aaaw i wanna debate soo badly! XD

It would be good if every single one would stop to just believe what he sees.

It's common knowledge that, although we know nothing, everyone knows what's really up in the world.

I've stopped letting things get to me, thanks to my, I dare to call it 'spiritual welfare' (although I'm really not a monk :S far from it ) .. and philosophy class.

Inner peace is something everyone has to achieve on his own, that's something where no one can really help you. Actually, that's not really a catholic viewpoint, because that would question the purpose of my lovely church. That's also why I thought about leaving it, but I still see some purpose for it in our material and social world. The church is a great and easy way for community organizing, helping people (like it's actually one of the key lessons jesus told us) and so on. That can also be across the churches. Last year I participated in a small social programm by a protestant organization, spending some time with people of the older generations. Interesting experience.

Now, I'm pretty well aware of the bad sides of the church. I visited relatives in Columbia (south america) this summer (I'm a european) and felt ashamed about the antipathy of some churches there.

My best friend was born dead, and was dead for at least 15-20 minutes after he was born. The doctors said he had died in the womb and there was no way to revive him (they tried for some time). When he came out, he was literally black from lack of oxygen, he was stiff, and there was no breathing or heartbeat. His dad, a strong believer, prayed for him from the time he was pronounced dead and he started breathing again without medical intervention. The doctors then said that he would have serious brain damage, but he grew up into a normal, intelligent man with no ill effects. Pretty freaking cool if you ask me.

@Timmah!

Personal experiences are very convincing to the person who had the experience, but not very convincing for everyone else. Most people in your situation would have believed that was Gods work too. Though nothing in your post is evidence that God exists, just unexplainable phenomena.

I believe God exists because I have faith that he does. Also, when I look at the complexity of the world and I know that it takes something great to make it. Also, when I flipped my car on the highway he protected me. That reinforced my belief.

Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

It seems to be the only viabible option as to how we all got here... I have studied evolution extensively and I have come to the conclusion that it take more faith to beleive in Evolution and the big bang than it does to believe in God and creation. Also the Bible has never been proven wrong, people have discredited it, but have never had proof.

Example, in the middle ages people pointed to a passage in Job(might be psalms) to say the Bible is wrong, the passage refers to the earth being round and at that time "science" believed the world to be flat... then comes Gallileo.. and guess what, the world is round. There are others things to like the Bible referring to the blood as the source of life (it is) but until the 19th century science believed other wise (this the reason G. Washington was bled to death)

How could the writers of the bible know more about science than the leading scientist of the day.... without their being some supernatural influence (inspiration)

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

@Tombi123---that's a tough call b/c in those instances if you had been there would you have been able to attribute it to faith or to just a random bit of luck?
