Forums - Nintendo - Help with Snes9x, SD gecko for Gamecube.

I still have problems (monetary ones) with getting an SNES... so I decided to emulate it on my Gamecube till I get some cash. And I have a couple fo questions:

-How do you load an SD card w/SD gecko on GC?  does the system recognize it by itself? I've got an NTSC-US Gamecube.

-How good is the emulation of Snes9x on the Gamecube? any issues with the last version? any popular+incompatible games?

Thanks to anyone who anwsers. I hope most of you tried it.

I didn't realise you could emulate SNES on a GameCube... where is the SD card supposed to go? or is there an adapter for the memory ports or something?

The SD gecko (the adapter), inside of which the SD card is, goes into a memory slot.

The same can be done on a Wii... to run Linux for example.

Hmmm, I thought SNES emulation was perfect now on PC (even those FX games)? Or maybe you're looking for that special feeling when playing games with a console controller rather than with a keyboard/PC controller? Anyways, for your second question, I believe that software emulation with the GameCube should be perfect as well.

I think you're giving yourself trouble more than anything though. o_o

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

That's exactly it

The usage of the adapter/SD card is very wide though. Wii homebrew/linux anyone? I plan on getting a Wii sometime this gen.

Oh man...! I know the feeling. I know, I've played Super Mario RPG on ZSNES years ago, and when I finally got a real copy of the game (fo sho' realz!!), it was awesome! =P

You still won't be satified though, because playing SNES games with a GameCube controller is not the same thing than playing with a SNES controller anyway, so it's pretty pointless to ''look'' for this feeling. Thus, why I'm suggesting you play them on PC anyways before you can finally get your hands on a SNES.

Well - it's better than PC and the $8 I get it for is not too much... :D

well i have various controller that connect to my pc

Sega magadrive
nes
snes
saturn
n64
playstation dual shock
saitek

and because i have my pc connected to my hdtv most of the time instead of my monitor i still get the same experience as if using the proper consoles because i have the controller and the tv.

I use a usb adapter and software to get the controllers to work.

^That's vevn more trouble for me, for now.

Anyone else?

You might want to track down one of these:

http://www.the-nextlevel.com/features/hardware/hori-digital-controller/

It's awesome and does give you a perfect feeling when playing old games (or plain 2D), both on GC and Wii's VC!

Unfortunately it's not easy to find!
