Forums - Gaming - Sad Nintendo Wii Owner :( Should I trade it in ? Help me make up my mind...

Do it.

You'll make the greatest decision in your life.

@Twesterm

Watching things in SD at 22" really isn't that cool either.

I haven't tried sending an AV signal from a PS3 using component cables.

DVD output *may* be restricted to 480p. All SD upscalers I've seen require an HDMI connection.

Blu-Ray would be limited to 1080i.

Supposedly, PS3 games can output at full 1080p if your monitor supports that resolution. My guess would be 720p/1080i.

Can't confirm that without trying it myself, but that's what users claim.

I'm assuming his TV is bigger.  I'd rather sit on a comfy chair/couch  with something I'm going to assume that's about 30" and watch something in SD than huddled over a computer monitor watching in HD.

I don't think there's much hope for someone who couldn't find anything worthwhile in Galaxy, Twilight Princess or Brawl.

Hey stop that!! I liked Mario Galaxy alot, but Twilight Princess was also good.  But, Brawl was no where near as good or fun as Melee.  Its too easy to cheat in it.  I hate how everyone defends brawl and kart wii when they are both worse than the gamecube versions.  Gamecube versions for the win1!!!!!

Lol no way. If I lived near you I'd play you in Melee, Ice Climbers v. your main, then I'd show you cheating :P

Don't buy a PS3 until you get an HDTV. Some games are unplayable in SD.

As much as my Sony-fan genes tell me to recommend that you buy it, don't. Not at the expense of another system - you will surely regret it.

Unplayable? What do u mean unplayable? You cant use SD tube tv or something. Doesn't it downscale?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yes you should, but wait for the holiday season to trade it in.

Trade it and buy a PS3, and then Uncharted, LBP is going to be huge......

@ megaman, there are some issues with text being mostly illegable, but I have seemed to have more SD problems with my Xbox.... but it is mostly fine

i really hope LBP isn't huge, just so I can laugh. i'm probaly going to buy it, though. but no one out of vgchartz knows what it is.

if this is a serious post, play the games over, they're amazing games. if you still don't like them, then do whatever

Don't worry Wii music will destroy it[LBP].

It sends the signal fine, but the games themselves were designed for display at more than 480 lines of resolution. That allows for greater detail at shorter draw distances as well as greater detail at further draw distances to be seen.

In many games, that visible draw distance is necessary in order to play or you're left responding to distant onscreen action/enemies you can't even see properly onscreen.

Text in HD games will always be in smaller fonts. Not clear or sometimes even viewable at SD/ED resolutions.

This is the reason why all text in Wii games looks like block print: to make it legible at 480i/p resolutions. The text for Dead Rising Wii for example was re-programmed with larger fonts.
