Cueil said: The quick and dirty is that no game coming out the the PS3 in the US is likely to spark the kind of sales that MGS4 did. No one was looking forward to R2 as much as even R&C. It's likely that with this holiday Microsoft may be able to put enough breathing room in the US to shift more focus to Europe where they are taking a thrashing outside of the UK. As for not mentioning games They really didn't mention any games though they showed a few for each console including Home. Personally Home is worthless if it's not integrated into the console. Optional bloat software doesn't usually sit well with most people and it's not something that I think many people will get into. Of course that's my opinion... I may or may not be wrong. |
...but Cueil, Sony fanboys think that LBP and MGS4 will move the consoles for them this Christmas. They think consumers will percieve the 360 price cut as a desperation move, and not buy the console. They also believe that only pre-existing Gears fanboys will buy Gears 2, and Fable 2 will only sell to Xbots.
What say you?

Fable 2... One button combat... how f'n simpler can you get... plus you can bang chicks/dudes... that's def going to score the rest of the frat guys who normally wouldn't buy the system :p not to mention jump in and jump out co-op... and likely another good story. I'm really looking forward to playing this with my gf.
Gears of War 2 is the kind of game that Halo was... it brought people into the hard core setting... Halo redefined FPSes on consoles by actually controlling well and Gears of War series brings a very hard core feeling to it, but it really isn't that hard. The biggest thing they needed to address with GoW2 is story... My gf sat and watched me play Mass Effect and Lost Odysse, but I couldn't get her to sit and watch me play GoW... so that's what they really need to do better in order to kind of draw in more of the upper level casual gamers into the core crowd.
Bottom line is Gears is going to sell batshit crazy and Fable is going to put up at least a million if not two. It wouldn't surprise me at all if those two games outsell Sony's big four(R2,MotoSt2,SOCOM,LBP) combined by the end of the year.
I predict that this holiday alot of PS3 owners go multiplatform and a lesser amount of Wii owners go for the 360/PS3. I think this will be a good holiday for all three consoles no matter how things fall.
As for me I think Fable 2 is my next purchas and after that Gear of War 2... perhaps a couple of discount games to.
