Forums - Gaming - Which RPG series is better? Tales v. Shin Megami Tensei.

So i'm looking for some new rpg's to play especially a new franchise to get in to. I've narrowed it down to the Tales and Shin Megami Tensei franchises. So I ask which do you recommend. BTW, consoles i own are ps2/3, xbox360, and plan on in the next year buying a Wii. Thanks all.

Shin Megami Tensei

Both are great but for you own I would say Shin since you don't have a wii yet so you can't play ToS and ToS2 but either way its good...

Former something....

If I were you I would talk to Stats87, he has a good amount of RPG knowledge and I'm fairly sure he has played both.

I'm afraid I've only played one, so I can't help you compare the two.

...

I'd go Tales.

You might also want to look into Persona, Persona 3 FES is really good.

Shin Megami Tensei!

Considering I've only played one Tales (Legendia) and it was nothing special, Shin Megami Tensei all the way. Both Nocturne and Persona 3 are two of the best RPGs the PS2 has to offer. And Persona 4 will join them in three months

Persona is a spinoff of Shin Megami Tensei, so it's not a series by itself

SMT hands down!
