I am done with this thread. Its ridiculous really. I have never seen a case where there is direct evidence contradicting a posters statement and the argument continues. Kaz Hirai says in a video interview that the 80GB will stay at the $599 price. Jack Tretton said live on G4 that that they PS3 didn't have price cut. Of course I guess it only matters what Sony execs say, when it supports YOUR view of what should occur with the PS3. I mean you are cherry picking executive to support your point Karraker is Hirai's subordinate. So until Hirai rescends his statement what he subordinates say mean nothing. Besides Karraker is PR and he is simply trying to put out a fire. The man in charge of the Playstation brand is Kaz Hirai. What Kaz says goes.
The basic contention you and other seem to have Ck is that Sony wouldn't keep the 80GB at $599 because it wouldn't make sense. Sony has made continuous bonehead mistakes with the PS3. So a common sense move by them CANNOT be assumed. The 80GB model may go down to $499. I am not saying that it won't, but the 60GB stayed at $599 for several months after the 20GB was discontinued. Also, you are speculating. When Sony the head man at SCE says differently.
BTW Windbane, your comment about Sony actually making systems was pointless. They aren't selling them. Nintendo has outshipped and outsold them.
