I refuse to congratulate the 360 for winning two weeks. Maybe if it wins a month. Well, it looks like the 360 is going to beat the PS3 again worldwide this week. However, I also have to admit that it would be **** funny if the PS3's American numbers turned out to be higher than the 360's this week.

Maybe not, but I think that if Little Big Planet comes out with 9+ review score, Resistance 2 comes out with a review score close to Gears of War 2's review score; and Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Mirror's Edge come out with 8.5+ review scores and the PS3 versions of these games perform much like PS3 GTA IV, PS3 Grid, PS3 Devil May Cry 4 and a number of other recent multi-console games where the PS3 versions have received higher critical acclaim than the 360 versions ; while Fable 2 comes out with only an 8.5 review score, Banjo manages to surprise and gets a 9.0 (with LBP still being a bit higher), and Gears only gets a 9.5; then I believe that the PS3 easily deserves to outsell the 360 this holiday season.

If the 360 didn't outsell the PS3 last week, which is entirely dependent upon NA, where the price cuts have just taken place, then that's a bit of a problem for the 360.

After two weeks with a new pricing scheme, it is to be expected that sales will have dropped slightly over the week prior and it's initial discount sale rush, but they should still post higher sales numbers than the PS3, which has no current catalyst to stimulate further sales.

JPN sales dropped about 50% over the week prior and will probably continue to dip and equalize over the next two weeks until the next catalyst hits, whether that be the next big RPG release or seasonal holiday sales.

Expect similar trends to happen in NA, although not as abrupt. There will likely be a drop, but it won't be a 50% drop over last week's figures.

Either way, it will still be enough to outsell the PS3.

If not... then it's up to holiday sales and the theory that leaner holiday sales in NA due to the economic downturn and a cheaper 360 means more units sold than the competition.

For every game that is slightly technically better on the PS3 than 360, I could show you 2 that are the opposite. And honestly, the devs have (thank god) got it to the point where most multiplat releases are practically identical. To argue that the PS3 will do better because it has 1 FPS more than it's 360 equivelent is ridiculous. Most people don't even notice unless it's widely talked about and noticebly worse, such as Madden 2008 PS3.

 

At any rate, I described to you a situation in which I thought the PS3 would deserve to win the holidays fairly, squarely, and easily up above in answer to your question about whether or not I felt like the PS3 deserved to win the holidays only due to blu-ray. Then what do you do you decide to drag the argument out longer.

One of these days somebody will get accused of trolling.
