well day one purchase for me, this is certainly better than any mario game. i hope i finish galaxy before this gem is out. lbp is looking like one of the must have ttles thsi year. obviously the game will be hit by many fanboy reviews lowering it down, either way he game looks awsome together with the rest of the titles out this year as well as home, ps3 is looking rosy in 2008. i just saw a video of a group of playwrs who had to launch themselfs to another platfom using a car as a booster

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

Updated comment (bolded) from the guy on neogaf with the reiew code:

Playing the review code right now, the game is sooo awesome. With all the "build stuff yourself" hoopla, I've almost forgot that the game is a really, really good and superbly drugged out inventive platformer.

There's a Motorstorm: Pacific Rift level online already and some others from Sony devs.

...

Couple of hours of two player coop under my belt. Game is fucking TIGHT. No problems whatsoever online. You can see everyone on your friends list on the LittleMoon in your pod complete with their PSN avatars and you see who is playing LBP. The latter you can invite or join their pod and off you go. Smooth as fuck.

Got through the first three chapters and as a person who thinks Super Mario World is the finest platform game ever, some of the sequenes in LBP top that game and really show what can be done in 2d/3d platforming. The two player "puzzles" are fun too and some of the just had us laughing out loud as we kept fucking up. Most of the puzzles requiring two players give you harder to get items. The levels have big 2X signs telling you that this way for two players. I wonder if if it says 3X if you got three players.

I've written a lot about the game and I almost forgot that its really a brilliant platformer at heart. Sure, the physics oriented jumping can get a bit tricky, but there's lots of checkpoints etc so it's cool.

A game that really brings a smile to one's face.

...

So hard not to keep talking about this game. Playing the last chapter now and this game is the most inventive, both visually and mechanic wise, platformer/game since Super Mario World. there's just some staggerringly good and surprising moments in here. There's a bit at this one level where it's like playing Sonic where you hurtle down slopes with your Sackboy collecting points and just before that it was electrified platform city a'la Super Mario.

Kotaku hands-on LBP, "I think I'm going to have to turn down my hype meter"

----------

Don't Let Sackboy's Cute Face Fool You, LBP Is Hard

At this point, I've seen and heard enough about LittleBigPlanet that I feel as though the game isn't even real and that it's never actually coming out. Thankfully, Sony brought along their first-party titles for us New Yorkers to try out and I can confirm that the game does in fact exist and will be coming out this fall. But after finally getting my hands on it, I think I'm going to have to turn down my hype meter just a bit.

When I got my hands on the controller and got booted up to the LittleBigPlanet title screen, the first thing I wanted to do was to make stuff. I think I've seen enough the gameplay from finished levels to know how it'll work when it's put together, but I felt since I didn't have a whole lot of time, I wanted to dig deeper in the creation tools.

Without any real tutorial of the controls, I just started messing around. The first thing I popped in the environment was a sombrero. OK, easy. But the Sony rep and I decided we wanted to give the sombrero wheels and drive it off a ramp. Now this is when things started to get a little harder.

I think something that's being overlooked with this game is the learning curve. I found it to be very overwhelming.

If you wanted to build a sombrero car, you have to attach it to a piece of wood (or something flat). But since the sombrero is two blocks long in width, you have to make sure your surface is just as long or it won't let you do it. And if you're not completely familiar with the system like I was, it's easy to get stuck and frustrated when something doesn't work.

So we finally got the hat on the piece of wood and I put some wheels on. But then since the hat is light, we had to make sure it's glued down or it will blow off. Then we had to add two motors (one for each wheel) and manually go in and alter the settings to adjust the speed of the car.

I don't know how long it took for me to build that sombrero car, but it took a lot longer than I thought it would, and it didn't even look like something I wanted to save and share with my friends. We never did get a chance to drive it off a ramp both because I had to go, and the ramp itself wasn't even done. :(

We also tried to attach one wheel to a can of tuna, which was dubbed the "Tuna Cycle," but it didn't work.

Granted, this was my first time with the game, but isn't this supposed to be accessible? I had an easier time with SOCOM from earlier in the day.

^ That's from the beginning of August. Review copies only went out last week.

Also, this was the guy's first time jumping into the game.

Try to jump into an RTS, RPG, or a god game (Sim City or The Sims) without any tutorials or guides and see what happens.

going to see whether it flops or not (probably will flop) then even think about buying it
