Forums - PC - EA responds to DRM "issue"

I don't care if it's 3, 5, 10, 50 or 100 activations, it's still less than infinity, which has been my right up to now, and it's still an inferior product compared to the pirated version. EA can shove it.

This

This make the normal user more likely to pirate so not to get spyware on their computer, EA fails.

Exactly, EA tries to explain everything with "we are stopping piracy", when they are doing exactly the opposite... They are better systems to reduce piracy, and they had to choose one that doesn't...

I guess the DRM worked then, since Spore was available in torrent sites before the day it launched. Mission accomplished.

Hopefully this will shut up some of the people needlessly bitching about the Spore DRM. Personally, I think it's pretty nice of them to raise the install count from 3 to 5 and encouraging to hear that they're working on the system to deauthorize install.

Hopefully once the iTunes-esque deauthorization station is in place people will completely stop bitching (but of course we know that will never happen).

Apperantly you have no problem whatsoever with EA owning your game after purchase and a 3 limit install, good for you.

But the majority of us don't and see this as problamatic.  Read the comments and replies of Kotaku or this thread and understand why people are enraged about this whole issue.  EA splurting out crap like "this is necessary to protect our game before release date" just adds to the fuel too.

My favorite is

And while it’s easy to discount the noise from those who only want to post or transfer thousands of copies of the game on the Internet, I believe we need to adapt our policy to accommodate our legitimate consumers.

LMFAO, the ones complaining are potential / legit customers that buy your game!  No pirate is complaining about this DRM because it doesnt affect them!  Get a fucking clue EA, and realize this only hurt youselves and customers.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

"Issue"...cute.

And I quite agree that it's "nice" that they're graciously increasing the number of times you can enjoy the product you paid for. I also thought it was "nice" of my insurance company to pony up a whopping 2/3rds of the money they promised they'd pay me in our contract. And, in both cases, it only took days and days of needless wrangling to get (closer) to what should have happened in the first place.

Joy!
