@johnsobas

depends on legs

360 sold 47K in first week in JAP.. then dropped to very low sales.

on the other hand once again Europe may help PS3 versions win

well i'm just talking about japan but i doubt the ps3 version will get about 35k week 1.  I think it'll be closer to 30k.  I don't see any reason to believe it will have good legs.

was ES advertised much/at all?

No idea.  But it's had a year of hype on these boards.......

Shame that people hyping the PS3 version of the game on the boards didn't look at how horribly sales for games that launch a year later do.

Compared to the waves that Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns Of The Patriots created sales wise months ago.....this is a disappointment

Well I guess we should expect a year old bombed game to not do well....but we thought as its a JRPG it will be gobbled up anyway.

I'm sure that Japanese people want RPGs, but they also want quality, and not waiting a year for a game that's readily available on another platform.

I don't really understand the huge deal about JRPGs this generation, but I don't get it. I only played two JRPGs last generation (FFX, and FFXII).

i think we should analyze the first day sales based on shipment...44% of the shipment is not bad....so people cant make claims of saying "ZOMG people thought itd do 80k, bomberz!" when the most it could have sold first week is roughly 50k.

Considering the shipment id say ES did pretty much spot on what was anticipated by the marketing and people who know whats going on.

@DmeisterJ

there's a big deal because the 360 is getting them....so its being made a big deal.

Eternal Sonata is a good game though.......

Not great, but good.

44% is not good at all.  First week shipments could easily be lifetime sales.  Also using percent of shipment is not a good way of measuring if sales are good or not, it is only good as measuring if it was supply constrained, it has nothing to do with expectations by gamers or the companies that made the game.

Darth is such a hypocryte. He goes on forever about how a jrpg bombs simply cause its on the wrong platform, but when it fails on the PS3, its somehow cause its a game that already bombed. Its circular reasoning in which the Xbox will always fail, even if it wins, and the PS3 will always win.
