Come now... this is Japan we are talking about, a region many people say MS should just leave and ignore. and even if Wii is in a low period and 360 recieved a massive boost it's impressive to be selling on par even for 1 week.

I mean the PS3 last year had to have a number of relatively big games (biggest I think being GT5P) a price-cut + new model with a new colour all within the space of 2-3 weeks, and all it managed was 3 weeks outselling the Wii..... and a further 1 week was managed with the MGS4 release + MGS4 limited bundle with new colour.

I actually find this feat about as impressive as the combined feats of the PS3 outselling Wii, because PS3 needed new colours, limited editions (both vastly good methods of selling lots quickly as proved by PSP and DS) as well as a price cut and big - huge games.

well then you haven't thought it through. Even though the ps3 did have a price cut it was still way more expencive than the wii whereass the 360 is the same or lower now.

The price relative to the other consoles doesn't make much difference.

Consumers first think of whether they want the item at all before they think of what price they will pay for it, so the 360 being cheaper than the Wii means nothing in the same way that the PS3 being cheaper than it means nothing.

PS3 had a huge price cut when it outsold the Wii, but the main factor for it outselling the Wii were the releasing games and the new colour/model.

Had the PS3 only had a price cut, it wouldn't have managed it, similarly if it hadn't had a price cut, but did have everything else it would have still recieved an almost comparable (though less front heavy) boost.

With the release of Infinite Undiscovery and the price drop of the Xbox 360, sales rose in Japan. Let's see if it can at least stay above 10K next week.
