Forums - Gaming - 3rd Party To Start Console Development...

No... I don't have news on this. It's just a thread I thought about.... While
just looking at how things are going with 3rd party publishers, are there any
that you would consider likely to do so???

My first Bet - Capcom

They haven't been releasing their games one what ever system it can work
on for a while now... feels like the don't care about catering to a brand a little
extra than the other. Perhaps they just would want to build enough cash to
fun development of their own console in the 8th or 9th gen?? Capcom is a
huge name in terms of video game software, I doubt they would ever have
of a prob with releasing good first party titles. And am sure that a console
with those IP's would do well.

Second Bet - EA

Well... they have the money. They have the IP's. Their new IP's tend to catch
alot of attention b4 release. They have the money....

This thread is just for kicks. Please remember that.

Who would you expect to move to console development.

i thought capcom aswell.... then i thought konami... possible apple next gen.

Apple can do it, the iPlay XD

Now, if it is a 3rd party software company, it may be EA, they have the resources... or maybe Konami... but it takes a really ruthless full-of-money-and-hungry-for-dominance company to be in competition with the big 3, so EA could be the more likely to enter the console wars...

i hope someday square enix.

all the RPGs in a fukin single console :P
but they don't have the money

The video game market only recently became big enough to support 3 competing console, and even then 2 of the companies are posting little to no profit. Why would Capcom or Ea bother?

I think that Microsoft has demonstrated rather well that going from software developer to hardware developer is a rocky and expensive road. Further console competition will probably come from a company with some hardware experience under its belt rather than a software-only business.

I don't think any new competitors will join the fray unless one of the incumbents drops out. Any Apple device which might be considered a gaming platform will not be primarily focused on gaming.

Not EA, they have a poor image. A big chunck of the gamer public wouldn´t buy a EA console. Imagine a RRod with EAs customer service... And they would not dare to loose their sports franchise to another publisher. I wouldn´t buy a EA console for their sports, I would rather go to an option like PES in soccer.

No third party would do that. And EA can't really do it because some of its stronger properties include licensing deals that demand them to publish the licensed content on every platform out there. Sorry guys, no maddenbox =/

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

EA seems to be likely.

I understand that this is unlikely.... but please read the second to last line.... "It's Just for Kicks"
