I hate Guitar Hero because it caused my beloved Tigers to lose the World Series in 2006. Our best reliever suffered a forearm injury during the playoffs from playing that dumb game. I will forever blame GH for our loss that year.

GO CARDS!

On topic:

I didn't start playing until Guitar Hero 3, so I'm not tired of the genre yet.  But I haven't played the game very much in the past few months so you could say I'm a little tired of it.

The game is a huge sales point for losers who are too lazy to try the real thing and create beautiful music of your own. You can create a simulation and have it sell a bundle for morons who are too sad to live life. Look at second life, look at World of Warcraft and look at these two games. I haven't met a person who played WOW that wasn't hooked on it like a crack addict and the same goes for this game. "OMG!! they put up a Megadeth song? Let me play it! I want to see how good I can be." Call me an elitist...i'm a realist and I just so happen to play guitar and actually sing. Heres some respectable words.

"

Blues-Rock guitarist and singer, John Mayer, has slammed the popular videogame Guitar Hero because he feels that it does not provide the thrill a real guitar gives.

Mayer has urged fans to learn to play the guitar instead of using the game to get the experience.

He said, "Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there's nothing like really playing the guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement park cars on a track?"

I dont know, I sing and I really like RB, I usually only do the vocals, that is the reason I got it. I didnt like guitar hero at all, but when I knew that there was a game where you could do the same as guitar hero with drums and singing I had to get it.

I understand what you are saying, but for me, singing in the game is the same thing as singing in real life, aand this game is making me have more practice and Im reaching higher tones now, besides there are a lot of groups I didnt know and it has helped me to expand my music library.

No...singing in Rockband is not the same as real life. Rockband is based off of the same logic as Singstar where even though you're singing, once you raise difficulty the only way to beat the game is to become consistant only to watching the lines in the game. I can do that, I decided to sing "Would" by Alice in Chains while battling a friend. I did a great job and stuck to the notes but by friend who couldn't sing followed the lines alone without talent  and still won. I lowered the standard of my range (Which right now is 3 octave with only 5 months of training.) to satisfy the game.

Of course you can win like that, making a game which forced you to sing like the vocalists of groups like aerosmith, boston or 30 seconds to mars is really stupid since most people dont have any talent at all. Besides, playing these games to "win" is stupid since anyone with a normal sense of music could just hit the notes by lowering the scale(I dont know if I explain myself, Im not good with english, but maybe you will get what Im saying) and win anyway, the thing that gets really makes you "proud" is to sing as you should do, like if you where in a concert or something like that, to actually sound good.

I dont play this  game as any other, I play it when people come to my house or with my brothers, I just play it as I play PES or any other party game, but as a party game I think its great.

I'm a huge music lover so I'm not tired of it. But I will see this kinda genre getting old pretty quick just like the shooter genre, but also like the shooter genre have more and more of the same kinda game as the years go on. Yet we criticize what's new such as Wii Music. Fucking hippos.

Hippos?  I'm not fat dammit.

Guitar Hero was getting a bit tiring, but Rock Band is so much fun.

@OP

Thank God I'm not the only one. The music genre makes me ill. I'd rather just listen to music than play with a fake guitar

This goes beyond just not playing it. It's about making a point. It's not like we're trying to stop the game. There is clearly a market for it, but what it's  actually doing is making people lazier than they already are.
