Forums - Gaming - The "I am tired of Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band!" thread

Well, this is it. A place for people to rant about arguably one of the most mainstream games out there. I created this haven for the haters to be safe from all the angry mobs that form when you voice your opinion on the rhythm game.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd... GO!

I never really liked the series all that much. I think the thing I don't like is how it feels more like rote memorization than actually playing a game. That's how it felt to me, but my friends love it so I tolerate it for their sake :(

I'm a huge music lover so I'm not tired of it. But I will see this kinda genre getting old pretty quick just like the shooter genre, but also like the shooter genre have more and more of the same kinda game as the years go on. Yet we criticize what's new such as Wii Music. Fucking hippos.

Wait, what's the point of this?

Are you just trying to make a thread dissing on Rhythm Games? There'd be no point to that, as there would be threads that diss on "mainstream" shooters, RPGs, racers, etc.

And that'd just piss people off.

Sony will prevail. My 60 gig says so.

PlayStation 3 Games:

- Rock Band
- Rock Band 2
- Soulcalibur IV
- LittleBigPlanet
- Guitar Hero: World Tour

Dude, all I'll say is this: I loved music, and these games just made me love it even more! It even made me realize something... I said to myself ''Wow, this is pointless and it's never going to make me feel accomplished.'' And guess what? I started to play the real guitar, and I'm getting quite good at it! I can even play some of the beats of some GH songs, like Mother, Woman, etc.

So no thanks, GH (and rhythm games in general) can stay here as long as they want, because people need to learn about music, and it's a very good way to make people listen to various styles of it.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

i've hated gh and rock band for one specific reason.
this type of game was created on both the philips and sega cd.
ever play the game where it shows a movie and pressing buttons continues the movie and pressing the wrong buttons ends the movie? there were so many.....

I hate Guitar Hero because it caused my beloved Tigers to lose the World Series in 2006. Our best reliever suffered a forearm injury during the playoffs from playing that dumb game. I will forever blame GH for our loss that year.

Haha Jackson I remember laughing after I heard about that.

Slightly on topic I hate people who diss RB/GH by saying "go play a real instrument".

The game is a huge sales point for losers who are too lazy to try the real thing and create beautiful music of your own. You can create a simulation and have it sell a bundle for morons who are too sad to live life. Look at second life, look at World of Warcraft and look at these two games. I haven't met a person who played WOW that wasn't hooked on it like a crack addict and the same goes for this game. "OMG!! they put up a Megadeth song? Let me play it! I want to see how good I can be." Call me an elitist...i'm a realist and I just so happen to play guitar and actually sing. Heres some respectable words.

"

Blues-Rock guitarist and singer, John Mayer, has slammed the popular videogame Guitar Hero because he feels that it does not provide the thrill a real guitar gives.

Mayer has urged fans to learn to play the guitar instead of using the game to get the experience.

He said, "Guitar Hero was devised to bring the guitar-playing experience to the masses without them having to put anything into it. And having done both, there's nothing like really playing the guitar. I mean, what would you rather drive, a Ferrari or one of those amusement park cars on a track?"

If this thread won't be locked, I might make one myself. :D
