OK cool, thanks for clearing that up.

So is their an exp. for the mp3s downloaded (i.e. If you were to get it for one month downlaod 2,000 songs, then not renew it, would those songs still be permanent?) also you do get to share music with people locally right? or was that something else I heard about?

I believe, but do not quote me on this, songs that you purchase outright will not have time restrictions.  Songs that you get using the Zune Pass(which is a monthly fee for unlimited downloads) will expire if you stop your subscription.  I believe a lot of people will get a subscription for one month, download all the songs they can, and then strip the DRM using some software.  I have not done this, and do not condone it, but it can be done.

Yes, songs can be shared locally using the built in WiFi connection.  It used to be only people locally could share songs, but now I think that with 3.0 you can share with any of your friends as long you are in a WiFi hotspot.

EDIT: I believe that songs purchased through the Zune store are not mp3s but WMAs.

You don't keep songs when you cancel your account.  That would be an unbelievable deal.  As for sharing songs locally (ad-hoc b/w 2 Zunes), I remember reading that you can do that, but there was some DRM deal about it.  I think something like the song expires after 24 hours or something.

I've owned 7 iterations of iPod's over the years. These new Zune features really make my Classic feel outdated =/

I just have so much home integration with iPod (docks, car setups) it makes trying something new such a pain.

Do know you offhand if Zune's play Apple Lossless? I know it will do WMA-9 Lossless but was curious if Apple's codec was supported as well. I wish either model would play FLAC. I have a Rockbox'ed iPod to play those files but a native player would be so welcome.

Completed X360:
High Def Movie Collection

I really believe the Zune's day to shine is not too far distant. I have an iPod Touch, but I know quite a few people who have Zunes and like them.

He has U2 , that's all the music he needs!

What is neat, is that I have the very first model of Zune and it now has all of the same functionality as the new ones via a software update.

I do not know anything about if it plays Apple Lossless.

I have a zune, this doesn't integrate into the 360 gamercard like pc does though, right?

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.

that's way cooler than gamer card :(

That right there trumps Apple but I am so accustomed to iPods it will be hard to switch. Plus the iPod Touch just looks so sexy.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
