Fernando, paging Fernando for a response, lol.
| FilaBrasileiro said: Wait a minute, are you getting your numbers from famitsu? VGcharts has Valkyria Chronicles - 147,936 Disgaea 3 - 108,777 Oblivion - 71,370 (not counting the 2k for The Best) Tears to Tiara - 65,580 Enchanted Arms - missing Argarest Senki - 29,323
You're a mod here and you chose Famitsu, I wonder why lol could it be it's because all Famitsu's numbers are smaller lol..... Either way I don't think a year old port is gonna sell 90k, 50k LTD and 20k opening week at best |
No, it really doesn't matter if VGC is saying higher. I was just using Japan-Gamecharts since they have an actual list of RPGs on the PS3. No one bothered actually stating what RPGs had been available in Japan. I decided to post the given RPGs and use the Famitsu numbers that were available.
Are you just upset that I enjoy using Famitsu rather than what you'd prefer to boost sales numbers with unsubstantiated data? It's not like I'm hunting & pecking for data....It's all from the same site.
Furthermore, I don't see what your beef is - I'm still predicting decent numbers for ES on the PS3, so I'm not trying to use a stupid argument either. Again, why didn't you bother backing up any data sets of RPGs in Japan for the PS3?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

This is a damn port of a poor game, people are not gonna go out of their way to get sloppy seconds.

The game is being significantly altered for release on the ps3, and it's releasing on a system starved for more traditional JRPGs (as in not SRPGs).
The 360 version sold 80k on a userbase one fourth the size of the ps3's, so it's not out of the question that this game could sell as much the first week, let alone LTD.

Not sure about that one. It's really niche and Famitsu gave it a 23/40 (Famitsu's reviews are based on community hype and if it's that low there must not be much hype). |
I believe they only admitted that was a partial factor
either way, it's not like they're the only ones guilty of it

LOL I didn't know you were gonna get all pissy pissy dude, I was just messing with you, I just found it funny that you chose those numbers and they were all lower, that's all, sometimes you come off as a 360 fanboy but you're allright in my book.
On the bolded part, it seems like you're heavily suggesting that vgchartz numbers are unsubstantiated, is this what you're trying to tell me? Because the numbers I gave you were vgchartz numbers.
I didn't bother backing up any data set of RPGs for the PS3 because as you know there is no traditional JRPG released for the PS3 save for Enchanted Arms (major crap), ES is the really PS3s 1st decent JRPG, and I think it's gonna bomb badly.

Sorry I don't share your enthusiasm dude, the game was not well received for the PS3 either according to Famitsu's review of the game and I don't expect Japanese people to go out of their way to buy a console just for a year old port, especially when they can buy pretty much the same game on a console that's half the price and with more JRPGs. I stand by my predictions but I'd be happy to eat crow.

I didn't say people would buy a console for it. I'm sure plenty of current ps3 owners are itching for a game like this.
Mmm guys, why go all other the place?
- SRPG are JRPG
- SRPG are a niche genre of JRPG, hence they sell more
- JRPG doing the same numbers or less on PS3 than on PS2 are sometimes called bombs when they obviously cost more to make than on PS2. This is the case for Valkyria, but obviously not for Disgaea or Fire Emblem (or any Wii titles that cost in line to last gen to make)
On topic, I really have no idea how much Trusty Bell will sell, as it's the first of its kind on PS3. Enchanted Arms doesn't count (it sold more than on XB360, but not really relevant).
| Fernando said: How about Valkyrie? Both Valkyrie and Disgaea 3 bombed, and I think Disgaea is far more popular than Eternal Sonata. |
both valkyere and disgeae sold well in japan.
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
