We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

i noticed

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This is bad news for Obama for the race to be this close. He should be leading double digits if history have proven anything.

We have a deeply troubled economy, an unpopular war, a very unpopular president and a historic reluctance on the part of the American people to elect the same party to the White House three terms in a row.

Happened sooner than I expected. Also, there are reports that Palin's favorability rating has dropped dramatically since last Thursday or Friday, right around her ABC interview

The market crash will definitely give Obama's campaign a boost, provided they keep their guns on the economy and don't fall into the distraction campaign of McCain's.

Suddenly John McCain is calling for regulation? What? I think McCain and his campaign have lost any inkling of what their campaign is actually about. Before, it was an experienced hand at the wheel. Then it was reform. Now it's reform + now I like regulation (but secretly I'm still planning to further deregulate the healthcare industry and force you to pay taxes on your employer provided healthcare benefits by treating it as income). Whack.

She's lost 10 points on her favorability rating according to CNN last night. Based on the fact that most of what her an McCain have been saying in thier recent ads are outright lies (as even karl rove has said) this might be part of whats caused the bump to drop. I also think her response to troopergate make people nervous as well as the fact that when she said she got no earmarks is a total lie and her claim to not supporting the bridge to nowhere was a lie (but she kept the cash!)

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

When Karl Rove says your lying what the hell are you saying

It's the economy stupid!

In all seriousness this was to be expected after Palin's lies were uncovered and with the Wall Street news, on which McCain wasn't exactly solid.
