Yea Soriku. Im pretty Sony publishing WKC won't be too much of a roadblock to not advertise their biggest console game.

Sony will market the hell out this game since it is probably Level 5's most hyped non DQ game ever and PS3 owners are starved for JRPGs like Gamecube owners were. WKC will be to PS3 owners as what ToS was to Gamecube owners. Even though tge 360 may have some JRPGs under its wing, Playstation brand still has a big JRPG fanbase
im hoping for a PS3 exclusive and a wii exclusive. PS3 game should be RPG and wii game an SRPG

I'm gonna have to go with Soriku on this one. But whatever they anounce anything, it will just be a platform for Izuna and maybe some DS games.
If they annoucne Dark Cloud 3 or a new PSP game, it will be at TGS, and the lead designer at Level 5 said at last year's TGS that he feels they need to make a Dark Cloud 3 eventually.

I'll answer your question with a question: How many PS3-exclusive announcements have we heard from Japanese companies in the last year? The last year and a half? WKC itself is a holdover from E3 2006, when everyone still assumed that the PS3 would beat the newly-named Wii's arse to the Mushroom Kingdom and back. Now that the PS3 is dead in the water in Japan, and being thrashed by the Wii everywhere else, why would Level-5 announce an exclusive project for it, especially when the far-more-lucrative DS and much-higher-selling Wii are available to develop on? |
Sony pays for the development of every Level 5 game they publish. It's essentially writing Hino a giant blank check so that he can fully realize any big ideas he might have.
If you notice, the only games Level 5 has paid for and published themselves are puzzle games (Prof. Layton rocks, but it probably didn't take that much time or effort to create), and Izuna. It's obviously not where they're focusing the majority of their time.
That being said, I don't believe they'll be making any ps3 announcements at this event specifically. And, as I pointed out in my previous post, Hino himself has said that he feels he must make Dark Cloud 3 eventually. Hino also said the following in his recent interview with Famitsu regarding White Knight Chronicles:
Throughout this thread and others, I've seen you argue adamantly against the idea of the ps3 garnering any support at all from Japanese developers. I'm not quite sure why the idea of the ps3 getting a few good games here and there affronts you so, but I do know it's very annoying.

MS has made it clear they want Sony's third party excusives so it's a bit harder for Sony to hold on to games when MS is flashing 100 million $ at the dev while Sony isn't.

Actually i coulda swore MS paid money to have multiplatform games not appear on the Gamecube. Or was that just a rumor?

I hope it's inazuma eleven western release. Even if it's europe only because they love soccer, since i could always import it.

2nd party developer guys, not 3rd party (for the most part). If SCE gives a big enough check, then they will develop for the PS3 regardless of market conditions as long as it's taken care of on their end. L5 has a good relationship with Ninty and Sony, but not MS - unless that changes.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
