Forums - Sales - Famitsu : 360- 28 681 Units WII 27 057

It seems MS held back alot of supply for this week, hence the low sales last week and high sales this week.

Anyway

I wonder how much cheaper X360 is in comparison to the Wii in regards to Japan market?

Surprising to see X360 finish ahead of Wii in weekly console sales in Japan.

come on, nobody expects the 360 to continue these sales but it is a good sign. Japanese gamers should be quite happy with IU, ToV, Lost Odyssey, Ace Combat and Blue Dragon already be available. Last Remnant and Star Ocean is still to come.

But PS3 again with 8k units. PS3 is dead in Japan confirmed :D

Btw. MS owns the IU IP, which could be quite important in the future.

What do you think would happen if MS buys Square Enix?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I'll be very interested to see what Media Create and VGC have to say on the matter given that 1,600 units is maybe a 6% spread and potentially within Famitsu's margin of error.

The question is how long the numbers will sustain.  Alot of this is pent up demand from the shortages, so I don't think 360 can stay above even PS3 levels (~8-10k) for too long on this "one big RPG every 4-6 weeks" train they are riding right now.

27k is actually an increase for Wii from last week by Famitsu as well which is interesting since it means One Piece had some impact.

I thought Wii was 29k last week on Famitsu.... it was 24K the week before (and MC was 36K!) then MC went down a tad, but Famitsu came up to 29k.

Very interesting to see an American console lead the pack for a change in Japan. The question is moreso what does Sony do if they lose the Japan HD market to Microsoft? Then they won't have control in any region. Do they make a PS3 version of the "arcade" model and strip out the Blu Ray and release a cheaper unit?

As much as I would love to see that happen... it won't. The PS3 has done far better than 28,000k a week before with a much larger price range and much smaller library.

Alot of you guys are getting far to ahead of yourselves, getting caught up in the hype.

It's unfortunate that this sales spike will be short lived because Microsoft deserves more for leading the Japanese market in terms of effort. But I reckon than when LBP and WKC is released in Japan, the PS3 sales will easily spike higher than 28k without a price cut. It's the sad truth.

EDIT: Sony doesn't have control in any region, the Wii is the one in control now. Regardless, the 360 cannot stop the PS3 in Europe and Japan.

Microsoft is battling Sony and the price cut is their weapon

Very nice Week for MS

nice for th x 360 this the first time ever that she outsell the wii

The 360 is a unstopable beast!!!

Not bad. I didn't expect that. Now, let's see if it can actually sustain this for more than two weeks.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
