Forums - Gaming - A GOOD Spyro game?

http://palgn.com.au/article.php?id=12751&sid=8a0603c604f5858db99da0b72f1d0f6b

Dawn of the Dragon is also the most visually impressive Spyro game to date, with some great stylized environments with lots of particle effects with each attack, and a lot happening on screen at the one time. The audio is equally epic, with a Lord of the Rings-ish soundtrack combined with voice acting talent from Elijah Wood, Christina Ricci, Gary Oldman and Mark Hammil just to name a few. With high production values like these and gameplay that is clearly bringing Spyro into the current generation with class, Dawn of the Dragon looks to not only be a fun game for the kids to play, but also an entertaining action-platformer for adults as well.

Overall:
Dawn of the Dragon is a huge step forward for the Spyro franchise, letting players fly around and experience the purple dragon like never before.

Starcraft's thoughts:
I would LOVE a good Spyro platformer.  But I'm still very cautiously optomistic.

I have never played a Spyro game in the past. I missed the XBOX titles. Were they garbage? I really don't know. But the new one seems fun.

Well I enjoyed the first spyro. Not so much the second one. I heard that from then on they wernt so great. So maybe this is a breath of fresh air, which is what Spyro is in some need of. The screens were pleasing with vibrant colours, and cinematic effects that we see in some films.

I wish they would just remake Sypro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer and Sypro 3: Year of the Dragon.

The first one still has the best graphics in the series imo due to its unique style and the way it really makes the dragon worlds seem alive. The 2nd and 3rd games were fun but couldn't match the original game...

Ohh and Dawn of the Dragon looks more like a beat-em-up / button masher than a platformer (i mean the whole reason couldn't fly before was because it would make the platforming sections too easy ...

If they want to make a good Spyro they have to return to the roots, and by roots i mean INSOMNIAC GAMES...

Seriously, Vivendi Universal could make a pact with Insomniac, Naughty Dog and Sony, that would keep us from suffering so many bad titles of the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot series...

Noone likes Spyro anymore

Unfortunately, I can understand why.

The only good Spyro's are developed by Insomniac. Although this one does look a lot better then recent Spyro's.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they managed to resurrect the series quality though?

My thoughts exactly. I'd like to give this one a shot though.

The PS1 Spyro's were great. This one wasn't on my radar and still isn't since it's hard for me to be excited for a game in a series that has decreased a lot in quality. Maybe if it does turn out decent, maybe I will get my brother to let me get it off GameFly(it's his account)
