They always say "problems with registering motion" and then when I play it either have very few problems or none.

I just think reviewers either a.) don't play the game enough to get used to the controls or b.) are stupid.

I think most games have some problems with motion but it's usually rare & not THAT big a deal.

I find reviewers make too big a deal of this & forget if they're actually having fun or not.

WTF?!! After IGN hype this game and saying its a contender for the Game of the Year afew months back the score was lower than Star Wars Force Unleashed?!!

I had enough with reviewers right now theyre not true with their words

well, IGN hyped the game because the preview they got was good. There are a lot of examples of this... in some extend, Alone in the Dark was in the same boat. Same goes for Haze.

Same goes for Lair and Heavenly Sword. Theres one lesson we should know in all of this, dont trust gaming sites especially with impressions, reviews and rumors "cough"Kid Icarus"cough"

We should decide for ourselves whats a good game and one which isnt. Im will not be surprised anymore if Mushroom Men, De blob and Deadly Creatures will give a average score...

Why should anybody spend 50-60 bucks just to find out a game sucks??? IN what world should a person go buy Lair or Ninjabread man because he 'doesn't trust gaming site"???

Deadly Creatures will probably get below average score. De Blob probably get "Impressive" and Mushroom Man might get average.

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

Episode 2:

According to pre-order rate in week 13 (post id: 2902544)

I still buy this game no matter what and to be sure if the game is good or not. I've been fooled on Okami I'll never been fooled again.

And yeah, Carnival games sold well even with low score reviews so Wii gamers dont care about the reviews anyway...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

Im from the Philippines so 50 bucks was too much for a videogame, and yeah, the price of the games here wasnt as expensive than on the states. And second, you could tell if the game was bad or not just by previews and actual gameplay not because of the reviewers tells you. You cant tell how bad Ninjabreadman by watching the videos and graphics alone? And yeah, Lair isnt bad not because of the controls its something else thats why I convinced myself not to trust videogame reviewers... from armake21 himself:

But IGN doesn't average scores. That why it says NOT AN AVERAGE at the end of every review

That means that the score is whatever they want it to be rather than the logical conclusion of the review.

Anyway, IGN isn't much better than Gamespot for reviews(it is though).

I'm not necessarily a huge IGN fan because I think they just don't like the motion control and always revert to traditional control given a chance BUT if you compare their score with the average of all other reviews they are actually very even handed on all consoles compared to Gamestop which is absurdly and obscenely biased.

I don't want to give exact numbers because the last time I dared suggest Gamestop's rag Game Informer was biased I had this guy all over my ass about sample size, statistical methods etc and frankly I've got better things to do with my time. But I was stupid enough to take the time to compare scores from 20 review sources (18 total because two sources reviewed less than 10 games) on a random selection of 36 Xbox 360 games on Metacritic that had a minimum of fifty reviewers each. Now I'm sure it's just a coincidence but somehow Game Informer just happened to be higher than the Metacritic average of all fifty+ reviewers 30 out of 33 times and on the whopping three games they were lower it was never by more than a few tenths. This put reviewers from whom I expect bias like the Official Xbox Magazine (US & UK) and Xbox Fanatic to shame as far as being 360 fanboys.

IGN, (and once again I'm sure it was only coincidence), IGN out of thirty two games (not all games are reviewed by the all sources) was dead on the Metacritic average three times and split the remaining 29 games 16 higher and 13 lower. In my naiveté, I was surprised and impressed.

Now I'm sure my method was simplistic, flawed pseudo statistics etc. (although after over 80 scientific articles published, you would think I'd have a clue) but personally to the extent I give a rat's ass about reviews, I'll get mine from IGN. Game Informer would line the bottom of the bird cage ... if I had a bird. Hell I may buy a bird just so it can crap on Game Informer.

In fairness, and once again I'm sure it was total crap statically etc etc. the Game Stop website is somewhat better although hardly what I'd call impartial.

Everything is strange when the reviewer is Daemon

Yeah, I took a quick gander at the strange score distribution, then scrolled up to see who wrote it. Daemon is the worst reviewer there, and it's my pet suspicion that he was brought in to make Bozon look good. Any review written by him is worthless. I'll wait until more reliable information comes in before I decide to get this or not.

Twesterm's impressions are vastly more influential to me.

I don't think that's what IGN said. I'm pretty sure they said "Party" game of the year.

Anyways, that's pretty disappointing. It might still be worth a rent though.

We all know mediocre scores don't mean bad sales on the Wii. This game still has a chance at being successful.

Just kiss the tip.

There have been too many instances lately of games getting great previews and then terrible reviews.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

yeah whatsw up with the prviews being so muvh better than reviews?
