Forums - Microsoft - Confirmed: Euro 360 price cuts

slimeattack said:
MS doesn't get that the reason why the 360 is doing bad in Europe is not because of price, it's because of their image (RROD). They better explain to the public that RROD is fixed, otherwise they will be perceived as cheap crap.

Shh! dont tell the secret.

i think this will effect european region.

more will jump in

Can anyone tell me the original price of the elite when it launced in Europe? I'm curious.

Hopefully these drops will force Sony to drop the price of the PS3 with atleast € 50.

So... If people still won't buy 360, we have 199€ Elite sometime at january or february?

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

when ps3 came out everyone was waiting for the price to drop for a suitable price like now and people just think that the 360 is a bit over priced for what it is so maybe we need a price cut
it isnt MS desperation like sony fan boys have been saying
if i remember correctly didnt sony drop the price within in the first EU week after launch from 425 to 399 then to 350 4 months later and by November it was 299 so its now MS's turn

The price drop seem more desperation then actual strategy. They might as well say "buy our product please, we wish to come 2nd this generation".

Europe prefers the PS3 over the 360. They have been even more put off by the RROD problems and disc scratching issues. BR is also something that is heavily advertised in stores such as HMV and ZIZZI. Only yesterday were they showing of Transformers on BR with queues of people standing gob smacked at the visuals... and guess what the sales assistants would say what BR player to go for? Yup, thats right, a PS3.

PS3 is like a fashion accessory/ gadget/ hub to PSP's/ BR player and a "cool" thing to own for a lot of kids in Europe (cool kids).

However, with the price drops coming to the 360, it is not a question of will it sell, it's a matter of "it better sell". If MS still fails to shift enough stock, they cant put their price back up, nor can they recoup as much money as they wish from software sales ( I think that's the strategy they are going for).

It is a very risky move and if it don't pay off, the future will look grim for what remains of this gen.

BR player dose not seem cool to every body, most of people will not buy it with such a high price just like here in NA.

@stonj:What the hell are you talking about? The PS3's launch price was 599 euros. It had only one price drop - the 60 GB was going for 499 euros and the 40 GB for 399.

@LPNA I'm not talking about NA. I was talking about EU and UK.

A lot of people here especially in the UK are fashion driven and follow trends. PS has become a trend.

Sweeet. :D Now I am going to get another one. :D
